Me? Or the guy that proposed?
ETA: invol, I am curious of your searching methods to find it. Thought I did a fair job of eliminating specifics. But yes she puts it out there.
Frequently. Actually lost her first marriage to it.

Yeah I was engaged at 18, paid for the ring through extracurricular activities. Smart enough to realize 1 month before the wedding that neither of us wanted to be married at 19. Sold the ring to my buddy and used the money to take a trip to Vegas when we turned 21.
All of my friends that laughed at me for getting engaged so young ended up getting their girls pregnant at 21 and having to get married.

How did you guys pay for your engagement ring?
I bought her engagement ring when I was... 23.
Paid for it out of savings.
Wish I had that money back.

Married at 21. Paid for ring painting houses and waiting tables. Just celebrated 13years, however getting married so young is not for everyone.

20-25 is your prime years. Don't waste them tied down with babies.

I got engaged when I was 23 and finishing grad school. We had no money. I used my credit card for the engagement ring.
Bought something (rubys and diamonds) I could pay off and that my fiancé/wife would like.
Next year will be 20 years for us and I plan to surprise her with nice diamond for he right hand.

I used my internship money for a 1 carat ring. Fortunately got paid to go to grad school so I was able to replenish my savings before starting work.

Engaged at 20 and married at 21, I saved my money and bought a 500.00 ring which wasn't much but she loved it and knew I did the best I could. My advice, don't go and get in debt. If you want to spend thousands on something save up for a Down payment on a house or take a really great honeymoon that she won't forget.
