Anyone know who plays first? US-Germany or Ghana-Portugal?

I think they said they play at the same time

Best case would be a Portugal Ghana tie.

Which is completely feasible.

Ok. I'm pulling for us to win. But a win over Ghana isn't impressive to me. A win over a team like Germany would be impressive to me.

If we tie, Germany and USA goes through no matter what, so neither team is going to try very hard.

Jurgen and Germany's coach are apparently close friends and former teammates. We got this.

I looked it up on another site..

It is goal differencial.

Then total goals scored.

If Germany kicks our arse badly and Ghana wins, they advance.

When you have the lead in the last 30 seconds of a game and your advancement to the round of 16 is taken away at the last possible second, a tie isn't something to be proud of.

That same Ghana team just tied Germany yesterday. Ghana is good a soccer team, which makes your complaints silly.

I don't think the excitement was over the "impressiveness".

I think Ghana knocked the US out of the WC the past two times, so it was a "nemesis" thing PLUS a win in the first game.

I think the US should get someone like ronaldo for their team.

Whether it's Ghana or anyone else it's 3 points in a very tough group. Of course people were excited, especially given the history with the US and Ghana in the World Cup.

But of course shitting in it would be like a LSU fan saying Ole Miss finally making it back to Omaha isn't impressive. Because they should've been there all along or something.
