There are many football, basketball, track and baseball players who play all 4 sports in a year. An athlete can pick his best option going forward.

As a pure athlete I think I'd take an elite linebacker over a corner.

Swimmers
Boxers
Basketball players
Jockeys (per pound)

In terms of conditioning I would say boxing and swimming

It depends on how we’re defining most athletic.

1) The most athletic entirely within their sport.

2) The most athletically versatile.

In terms of #1, it’s hard to argue against NFL cornerbacks and world class sprinters b/c (with extremely rare exceptions) only African-Americans can do it.

As for #2, it can really only be athletes with exposure to multiple sports, at least in high school. I might say the freakish NFL WR’s because they’re generally going to have more length than CB’s and RB’s (and better ball skills) and more top end speed than nearly anyone outside of sprinters.

If you're gonna put MJ in there for his baseball try, might as well say Tebow.

Deion and Bo could play at an elite level in both sports. They weren't just good enough to make a team, they were better than the average MLB player in their prime.

Not athleticism....that is a skill and a rare one at that.

I would go with small forward in BB or a high level tennis player.....and I am not being a homer cause I suck at both.

Think about it this way: There’s a galactic athletic competition consisting of a series of sports no one on Earth has ever played. Athletes with size, strength, speed, quickness, hand-eye coordination, endurance, intelligence, and mental toughness are most likely to excel.

If you had to pick a random athlete from a particular sport or position to represent Earth, which would it be? And anyone in particular?

I was a multi sport athlete

Boxing was by far the hardest (training) and I did about 1/2 dozen other sports. It is the only sport I participated in where something as simple as breathing was difficult. While boxers can vary in size and strength they need all the other traits you listed.

The downside is the intelligence can be diminished over time by repeated hits to the head. While a wide receiver may have a genetic ability that helps that specific sport it is not like conditioning your body to the other traits.

Swimming was great conditioning and built strength with low impact and it certainly affects metabolism. Imagine consuming 6K to 8K calories a day and not be able to put on weight.

Basketball was tough conditioning but I easily fouled out so that was not my sport but the suicides and such meant it weeded out those who could not keep up

One I did not follow through on was M gymnastics as I had a Lineman's body but watching guys do the rings seems pretty intense.

I was really good at football but you had time to catch your breath between plays. That was a strength thing. You could get better in the off season through strength training.

I think at that point you are looking at genetic outliers that can not be replicated in others doing the same sport. Secretariat was a freak horse with an abnormally large heart (bigger heart processes more oxygen) but this genetic aberration was not passed on to any of his thousands of progeny.

It is much easier to hit a baseball off a major league pitcher than to cover corner an NFL wide receiver.

There are 5 seasons of Pro's vs. Joe's as evidence.

A shortstop is the most athletic baseball defender, can hit a baseball, shoot the three in hoops, probably bang down low for rebounds, give off assists like crazy, play free safety (maybe not corner), wide receiver and quarterback, and play some good golf

as QB's, shortstops would be ahead of the curve on the option game hand-eye coordination

they would be B-minus or C-plus decathletes, meaning they'd be better than most
