Everything I love happens in cold weather: college football, hunting, and fishing.

Eta: I've lived in Cali and Montana... Love the weather in SoCal and the outdoors life in Montana.

Tennessee - Nashville area or smalltown east TN.
Texas - Central Texas or even N. Texas, if the money was right.
Colorado - Southern ski areas, CB, Durango, Telluride, Pagosa. Colorado Springs, Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, lots of areas I could see myself living.

AK is pretty but too dark for too long in winter, and I don't think most people appreciate how isolated it really is. If you hate people A LOT and work in petro, don't mind darkness, native alcoholics and extreme cold, then sure.

Right off the top of my head, I'd say rural New England(VT/NH), Texas, or mountain Kentucky.

The fishing in Alaska along with the hunting are ridiculous. Also, I like the thought of living without gov't at all.
