Two weeks is pretty much the norm.
What jobs are you looking at?

Seriously! Next thing you know he's gonna be asking to get a salary!
Lazy millennials I tell you.
And to answer the OP, for entrance level 2 weeks is standard. I'm at 8-9 years and have 4 weeks.

Actually he sounds like a Brit. My daughter, an American living in the UK, got called into her manager's office one month into her new job and was told to make sure she took time off.
She will also get one year's paid maternity leave when my grand children are born.
Their healthcare system is very efficient.
PS, edited to add. I get 5 Weeks PTO and try my best to use them all.

Better look for a government job, because 2-3 weeks is the norm everywhere else.

3 weeks. Max out at 4 weeks after 5 years employment. We can take as much unpaid as needed.
Also you don't have to take it and can cut a check for it.
But I'd worry more about negotiating for profit sharing than vacation if possible.

I'm surprised to see so many in the public sector comparable to the federal government, where I've always thought I've been pampered. I get 26 days/year, can carry over 30 days into the next calendar year.

6 weeks, 11 Holidays, and 3 Floating Holidays.
I started with 2 weeks vacation and have worked up over time. Max is 7 weeks.

Been at my job 3 years and I have 26 days of PTO.
When I hit 6 years I'll have 30
10 years 33 days
15 years I max out at 36 days
I can carryover 5 days a year but I can't sell any so I use it or lose it.

2 weeks vacation, 13 sick days that you can use as personal or vacation, and 9 holidays. So 32 total.

I can take as much time off as I want. But I'm straight commission so if I'm not working I'm not earning or I am potentially missing out on opportunities. so really even if I take four weeks off or five weeks off a year i'd be a fool to not work to some extent during those periods . my job never really lets me truly unplug.
If my retirement nest egg is sufficient I'll seriously consider stopping at 55 and becoming a school teacher from 55 to 62 as a way to give back while having 2 1/2 months off each summer.

Long story short I've been skimming for jobs recently and most are only offering like 2 weeks. I'm not sure what most people are used to but I wont settle for anything less than a month.
If you are at the skimming phase of seeking a job, you're going to have a helluva time finding employment that gives you a month vacation as a new employee. Most companies will start you at an introductory period and make you work 6 months or more before you get a single vacation day. After the introductory period, you'll likely get 2 weeks vacation which will be the yearly number until you've worked long enough for the company to receive more vacation.

I work for a gub'mint. Three weeks and extra time on the holidays.

I work an alternate work schedule where I'm off every other Friday.
So, I'm off 26 days, plus 4 weeks vacation, 80 hours sick time, and 10 paid holidays.
In 2 more years I'll have 5 weeks vacation.
