Jordan would not be an average athlete today. It hasn't been 100 years; athletes haven't improved that much.
What separates Jordan was his ability to score. Some people just have that natural ability around the rim and know how to create separation. I've never seen a player be able to create separation like MJ. Your boy Tony Parker is Probably the best in the league at it right now. Kobe can, but he will just shoot it with a hand in his face all the same.
Lebron is big as hell and has a natural separation already.

Babe Ruth was almost as good a pitcher as he was a hitter. Think about that. He held (maybe still does) the record for scoreless innings in WS play.

Pele.
When you consider just how popular Pele was even here in America when soccer wasn't even close to being as televised/publicized as it is now, it's pretty impressive. He's well known across the world, the Pope has one of his jerseys, and he's an honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire per Queen Elizabeth II.

More players are ridiculously good at it today than in Jordan's day, and do it at insanely efficient clips.
Jordan wouldn't be pedestrian today, but like I said, he was ahead of his time, so he stood out in ways that even better players today do not because he was the "first mover."
That's not to denigrate MJ, either--what he started caused the game to improve in a way it might not have had he not come along.

I agree with ya TB. I was just saying he wouldn't be an average athlete. He was still a 40 inch vertical kinda player.

I mean he doesn't get separation just because he's tall. He's 7th on the all time scoring list, and plenty of 7 footers have played the game.

Yeah poor choice of words on my part. He was an elite athlete. There are just more like him in the game today IMO.

Sorry but I don't believe this for one second. People all over the planet start teaching their kids about Jesus from the time they're little children. Aside from the most remote, deserted, backwoods 8th world tribe villages in africa you'd be hard pressed to find anyone the world over the age of 10 who doesnt' at least have SOME knoweldge or recognition of who Jesus is.
Compare that to a basketball player in the 90s in the USA. I'm quite sure people in sudan aren't teaching their children about the 88 dunk contest.

Idk about secretariat..considering all the endorsement deals and clothing that MJ had.
My whole point was...people actually make a conscious effort to teach their offspring about Jesus (or whatever religion they are) from the time they're young. People in China or Russia or Egypt or whatever may at some point in their lives have seen MJ during an olympic game or something, but people aren't actively teaching their children about jordan.
