For all you kids too young, he was a founding member of The Eagles.

RIP

Take it Easy

Sucks when the stars of your childhood start dying off on a regular basis. It means you're getting really old.

The Eagles, man, had the smoothest sound in music. No competition. RIP, Glenn.

The Eagles were great. Back with music was dominated by musicians.

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. CCR. Not my favorite music but those come to mind as pretty much the same.

I'll say that once I got to college and expanded my musical tastes, The Eagles became boring to me. No denying their impact on music though, and I still love those last few songs on the Hotel California album. The rest of their catalog, I'm pretty meh on.

Huge loss though.

I don't agree with you or The Dude, but absolutely love that movie and scene.

I was kind of there for a while too, but saw them in 2013 in Birmingham and was reminded of why I got into them in the first place. Their music is just fun to listen to. It doesn't blow me away musically in general, though Joe Walsh is a hell of a guitarist.

I feel a bit the same way, but a few songs, like Take It Easy( mostly written by Jackson Browne, but perfected by Frey)and some lesser known tracks still hold up for me. Last Resort and Wasted Time from Hotel California come to mind.

I love that movie and that scene as well, reminds me of any time I have voiced my dislike of the Eagles to an Eagles fan. They don't take it well.

The Eagles were always "old people music". I don't know why this comes as such a shock to a generation of people who are all 50+.

Old people did like it,but they did some quality stuff too. They had talent, and there is no telling how much great stuff they left alone, because they were not sure if it fit into their normal market.
They rode that easy listening/country/pop/wave as much as they could, then recreated themselves in the 80s and had huge success again, they sold a lot of records, all over the world.

Not saying they are my favorite band of all time, but most everything they put out, was at least decently written. They had a certain level of integrity.
