I think your in-laws should disown you as their SiL and tell their daughter that she's cut the frick outta the will.
And your wife and you are both a couple of fricking untrustworthy back stabbing hypocrites for talking about them behind their backs instead of just telling them what you are to their faces so they know what they're dealing with.

I hate that I agree with you on politics most times.
I don't think a soul in this board could ever say I have a progressive liberal thought. I'm mortal enemies with Stonehog and Mizz_Cou for crap's sake.
ETA: I didn't say a single thing on the OP that I didn't say to their face. It ended when I said that our generation just didn't have the problem with interracial marriage, and that's different from theirs.

Eh he is probably not a true racist. It's all about context...with older people you have to understand they grew up in a time where that word was socially acceptable and they aren't likely going to change their vocabulary with the times

You just cast some really bad dispertions on your in-laws, very judgemental crap, without affording them the benefit of telling their side of the story.
That is so-not-cool when dealing with elders. My oldest daughter does that bullshite .... she's 30 yrs old, living in California, pissed because I cut her off financially after finding-out she was taking money then talking bad about my wife and me to her California friends.
It's what liberal progressives do ... start race baiting discussions, tell a story about how they pulled themselves clear of a racist upbringing to gain sympathy and credibility .... kinda like being a black ghetto survivor or a cancer survivor or a liberal war combat veteran, or surviving a abusive relationship ...
.... it's just bullshite.
People are racist by nature .... and I don't mean genetically. Surviving life makes people racists, experiencing life makes people racists. And many blacks are, by far, the most racist people on earth. Hell, many of them are racist against one another for Christ's sake.
Ask that question .... how many fricking generations before so many blacks quit with the racist bulkshit? Killing one another? Killing white people just because they're white? Rioting, looting, burning.

I will say it goes both ways. A lot of older black people aren't exactly comfortable about interracial relationships either. Sometimes moreso than whites. TBird can probably elaborate more than I can, but I've seen it happen in my own family.

Black males with white females is as much upsetting, if not more upsetting, to black elders as it is to whites, in modern times. Certainly not in older days... but today.

Kindly old man, you've got to realize that conservatism and liberalism don't fit into a single box. We can have a notion that doesn't fit file and rank with the party line and still be a conservative. I can think gays should be able to marry and still think Obama is the worst president in the last 30 years. Just because one portion of an ideology isn't the same as yours doesn't make me a progressive liberal.
And I'm an anonymous dude who said, hey my in laws said something kinda sorta racistish in my opinion, but they're great people and I give them the benefit of the doubt. It's not like i recorded the conversation and sent it to NAACP and Gloria Alright.
