Mods, please move and don't delete if this becomes too much for the Rant. I figured it could go on a couple different boards.

quote:

Asked about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who wore a t-shirt with Castro on it to a press conference last week, Martin said Kaepernick has the right to express his opinion.

But he added, “Anyone who can applaud (Castro) is uneducated about him. If you did not stand for Castro in Cuba, you would be in jail.”

quote:

Martin grew up in Miami after his parents and other family members fled Cuba — like thousands of other islanders — after Castro’s communist regime came to power in the 1959 revolution.

Martin’s parents met each other in the United States, and he grew up in a home where “I learned English after I started school, not before.”

“This great country took in a family that didn’t speak a lick of English, and didn’t give them anything for free, but gave them an opportunity,” Martin said.

Martin made the most of that opportunity, becoming a major-college basketball coach. An uncle went from carrying boxes on the south Florida docks to a top position with the port of Miami.

However, Martin said Monday that Cuban-Americans of his generation haven’t given Castro that much thought.

“Is he a tyrant? Yes. Did he murder people? Yes. Do I spend time thinking about him? No.” Martin said of the late Cuban president. “But, now, my grandmother can rest in peace.”

quote:

Frank Martin ? @FrankMartin_SC Just unhappy that any educated person could support anything Castro did. His gr8est ally was Che Guevara the biggest murderer of all time

The link includes a ~10 minute video of Frank discussing his views on Castro.

Frank is the man.

Loved how the dumbass lauded Castro for the healthcare down there, when few could even access it.

Glad the cigar smoking pos is dead.

Probably should be on the Poli board but I'll comment. Revisionist history brother when the left wing professors at colleges want to rewrite history from their own personal points of view you get morons like Kap who believe he is being oppressed. Of course when your President has the same sentiment it's easy to understand why. He can't be removed from power soon enough.

Anybody who ever glamorises villains like Castro, Hitler, Manson, Koresh, Jim Jones, Stalin, etc. are clearly uneducated and have been severely misinformed.

That's the nicest way I can put it.

As far as actually pulling the trigger himself ... yes, probably so. Rough estimates are in the 1000s as far as how many Che executed by his own hand. Sometimes hundreds in a single day ... so, yes.

Seeing folks on Facebook and Twitter praising and even mourning Castro has been one of the sicker things I've seen.

Working with ESL kids, I've had the pleasure of working with some multi-generation Cuban families who fled the regime there even in later years. And most all of them wouldn't spit on Castro if he was on fire. There's a reason people in Little Havana were dancing in the streets at this news.

Kaepernick is painting himself in a corner with idiots a couple years ago that were wearing Che Guevara t-shirts without having a damn clue who he was or what he did.

Like 20 million more, including putting his own son on the front line in Stalingrad and having his ex wife executed, he was far worse than Hitler.

Justin Trudeau would find something nice to say about Stalin.

Stalin was a heartless bastard. The Germans captured his son and wanted to trade him for a German general or something pretty high up. Stalin refused and said it wasn't a fair trade. Stalin's son was later found dead, entangled in the electric fence surrounding the camp he was a captive in.

Kaepernick comes off to me as a disturbed psychopath.
Seriously.

I would not put anything past this arsehole. I have a feeling we're gonna have an oj part 2 one day with this idiot.

When the best you can say about someone is that they don't quite measure up to the great mass murderers in the history of humanity... well that is damning with very slight praise indeed.

Look, I'm a political moderate and I'll be the first to say that most socialists are decent people and that most folks who voted for Trump are just as decent. I'll get some down votes for that but I can live with it.

Castro does not fall into that zone. He exported revolution like the drug cartels export cocaine. Thousands, tens of thousands, of people died as a result. When Cuba went into an economic tail spin he made sure he and his were well to do.

No he isn't the greatest genocidal maniac of all time. Well, getting shot in the balls is better then dying from hours of slow torture... but that doesn't mean I'd like either thank you.

Fidel was a monster. If I could fly down to Cuba and pay a small fine I'd piss on his grave.
