I didn't really like the Macallan 12 as just a sipping scotch, but it pairs really well with a good chocolate. I prefer the Speyside scotches, but I do like the Laphroaig 10 and Lagavulin. For cocktails, I like Rob Roys and Old Fashioneds.

have you tried the MacAllan 15? if memory serves correctly it has a heavy oak back end to it that i feel like any whiskey/bourbon enthusiast would enjoy.

I haven't had the 15 year, but I do prefer scotch to bourbon. Speyside and Islay for me. I think Macallan is a highland which is a bit sweeter than the others (a reason I don't like bourbon quite as much too)

I've had it once and mixed it with sprite, was really good.

quote:lol I've definitely gotten into some arguments with friends over the years. I just prefer it chilled, and I do find a drop of water opens it up. I just try and be mindful when pouring a glass that I'm not pouring so much that it will be watered down before I get done with it. Timing, portion, ratio. Of course of I'm at someone else's house and they insist on it straight then I oblige, simply good manners.
Agree completely. Minus the rocks. But as you are a Kentuckian - you are forgiven, by me if not your fellow Wildcats.

I like a good Moscow mule this time of year.
Glenlivet on the rocks with a splash of water is my staple if I'm drinking liquor at the house. I like White Russians as well but haven't mixed one up at home in a while, same goes for an old fashioned. I need to restock my liquor cabinet.
SoPro Devils Harvest is my go to beer
