I made a post in the thread earlier about shrooms and wanting acid, but I was gonna say that I'm incoming to OM and I'll be staying in the twin towers next year... Hope to get some experiences like yours
Nice! You'll somewhat know what to expect if you've done shrooms. My suggestion would be stay positive, do it with other friends and have fun. I'd say take only one or two doses max, and don't do it to often or you'll go insane. Other than that, watch a kids movie or music videos, they are awesome. Also I never was greatful dead fan, but if you're ever going downhill on a trip, listen to them! Lmao seriously, it'll put you in a great mood when your trippin.

So weird you made this thread, I just tripped last night as a matter of fact.
Hallucinogens make or break you.
Glad to see fellow STS9 fans in here. String Cheese?

I tripped quite a bit when I was younger, both acid and shrooms. Mostly had fun but I regret taking it at so many shows. A lot of shows that should have been awesome memories are blurs of tripping. I'd turn it down if offered now but it had its place.

Hell yes. About a dozen times. Some of the most fun I've ever had on any controlled substance.

Question about acid: what is so bad about a "bad trip" that changes people forever? I've never done it due to hearing this.
I can understand some outside factors causing it to be terrifying or unpleasant but why wouldn't it go away once the drug wears off? Kinda like waking up from a bad dream?

Maybe an anxiety attack, or sometimes someone experiences an ego death.
That would be my guess, but maybe someone has a better explanation.

Yes I have a few times, I watched Fight Club for the first time on acid. That was a hell of a movie to watch tripping.

Sometimes just seeing that your entire world view is not set in stone and seeing the "other side of the coin" can really scare the shite out of people.
Imagine going through your whole life thinking you knew what life was all about, and having a drug say "everything you thought you knew about life is wrong, and by the way, Ive prepared a 6 hour speech to prove it to you"

Acid and shrooms are still a thing? Hell I did both of those back in the 70's and 80's. I thought they had went the way of the dinosaur with all this new shite going around now. I enjoyed both highs. But was glad I grew up and said no. I think Nancy Reagan made me make that decision.

I do not know if it changes you forever, but it changes your view of life real quick and how you react to that may change your life forever.
I had one bad trip in my teenage years. My friends found me half dressed in the middle of a frozen pond during a snow storm. I am glad the ice was thick and I did not fall through. I still did acid after that experience though, you learn.
If you ever can I do recommend tripping in a snow storm, especially if someone can drive you at night. i promise you will think you are traveling at warp speed through the Universe.

You can trip acid while staring at carpet and realize you are traveling at warp speed through the universe.
Rookie.

I think you've done alot of fake acid, and acted like a gimp.

What others said about shattering your worldview, but that can be a good thing. Most bad trips, if they have a negative effect, basically cause PTSD. A "flashback" is actually just q panic attack where one feels the same fight or flight response incurred during the bad trip. That physiological reaction can then cause a dissociative psychological reaction similar to the effects of the LSD. So a person feels like they're "tripping" again land back in the same mental space of the LSD experience. If that experience involved delusions and psychotic symptoms, then those may also return.
Basically it's the same thing that happens to soldiers when they get a panic attack from a loud noise and feel like they're back in a conflict zone.
All that being said, some people do go off the deep end and are profoundly changed after a psychedelic experience. The general thinking on those people is that they had the underlying psychosis or mental condition and the psychedelic just brought it out and triggered the break.
There's some really interesting research on the use of periodic dosing of psilocybin as a treatment for clinical depression. They're doing some clinical trials with it at Johns Hopkins currently.

I thought LSD sucked before I moved to Colorado. I would only take shrooms, and only when camping. It turns out, Florida (and probably most of the South) had terrible quality LSD in the 90s and early 2000s. A nasty, dirty, speedy version. It turns out, shrooms are more of a body trip, and LSD is much more cerebral.
Now, I even think it's great in small doses. A 1/4-1/2 a hit is a lot of fun, but not so strong that you can't maintain in public. But you still have to respect how powerful of a substance it is.
The most fun I've had in years was paddling the Buffalo River on 3/4 of a hit. The river and rock outcrops were amazing. And it wasn't so strong that I couldn't control a canoe going down rapids (only class 1 and weak 2s).
It's an incredibly powerful substance, that I think every adult should try once. Though preferably with someone experienced, and in a beautiful setting. Don't just eat a hit, and hang out at the house. Go camping or somewhere serene.

I don't know how you could enjoy Sector 9 without tripping
Even tripping, I would hate that. That seems more of an MDMA, every kind of music is amazing, type of show.
The only show I've tried at, and knew that was drug the musicians intended on using, was Beats Antique.
I do find it amazing how psychedelics open up sectors if your brain and allow them to communicate.
I remember tripping and playing a full drum kit for the first time in years. After about 20 minutes, it was like I'd never never stopped playing. No matter the genre, I could play it. A douchebag control freak we were with even tried playing punk (knowing I hate it), and I started playing it like I was 16 again. It was kinda eerie.

What's funny to me, when you posted this comment, I was tripping on Beaver Lake, swimming and drinking all day.
