i agree, having a kid that you can't provide for is a terrible thing. We have far too many poor and stupid people that reproduce

Downfall of the country. A bunch of idiots pumping out kids like crazy, while the intelligent people are fine with just one or two children.

You're right. There aren't.

Better yet, make abortion clinics more accessible. The Commonwealth of Kentucky has only two in the whole state.

Disagree. Put the kid up for adoption and give him/her a chance at life.

A bit, but mostly because I just hate kids.

A two parent household is the best thing for a child. If two people have a baby, they should commit to each other for 18 years. Regardless of their personal feelings for each other. For the child's sake.

Just from having worked with kids of all kinds over a decade now, I think you can successfully raise a child in a "split" family. But it takes a lot of patience, understanding, and a will to make it work. I'm talking about two parents who are active in their child's life, that doesn't let their personal feelings for each other not get in the way of a functional joint custody situation. It doesn't happen as often as it should, but it is possible without marriage.

I can also attest that I've seen plenty of fricked up situations from "two parent" homes with parents who married solely because they were having a kid too. And it always seems to come to a head around the middle school years, often leading in a nasty divorce that makes things pretty hard on the kid.

The reality is that marriage itself seems to have less to do with it, but more so two mature adults being willing to raise their kid with some sense regardless of the situation.

Crack babies, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome babies and those with severe defects have almost no chance of being adopted. What to do with them?

Is this related to your thread a couple of weeks ago about your roommate's girlfriend being pregnant?

Yeah, but 40.7% of births in the U.S. are to households headed by single women.

I don't look down upon them if it was just a mistake. We all make mistakes. I'd commend them on having the baby rather than using abortion as a cop out.

I think if the couple can be compatible they should try to stay together and get married for the childs sake. If they don't get along, then just stay apart but both be active in the child's life and share the burden.

I only look down on them if they neglect the child. If they love it, and make a full effort in spite of unfortunate circumstances to be a part of the child's life, then it's ok in my book.

Better than murdering them IMO, but I don't want to get into an abortion debate today. It is just how I feel. I am fine with people having the choice to do so, but it doesn't make me hate it any less.

Not all get placed with fosters. I have a ton of kids I work with that other family members who are often overburdened already by age (grandparents) or by other family members that have been placed with them. Sometimes they get reunited with their biological parents, at least half of the time they don't.

leaving them in a system where they have no chance of being adopted and truly cared for is worse then ending their life? if they wont be able to live normal lives then it might be better that they are aborted. It is a tough call
