I've never really thought of this as a Christmas movie, but I've seen a lot of people on twitter having the debate. Also, my gf said it was one on her fav Christmas movies. I've only seen it a couple times and it does happen at Christmas so I guess it qualifies? What says you?
Still a great movie though! "Hasta la vista, baby!"

It is not a Christmas movie.

The Nakatomi company is having a holiday party.
McClain sends a dead terrorist down the elevator wearing a santa suit and says Ho-Ho-Ho.
The limo driver talks about presents.
The closing credits roll under Christmas music (Let it Snow).
How can it NOT be a Christmas movie???

Denied it for years, but nowadays I definitely consider it a Christmas movie

Christmas is a motif not a theme. You change it to any other holiday and it's the exact same movie. If you took Christmas out of Scrooged or The Grinch or Miracle on 34th Street it ceases to be the same movie.

What about It's A Wonderful Life, though? Still works without a Christmas motif, imo, but it's probably the best holiday movie of all time.

Not a Christmas movie. It makes a good holiday movie because of the feel good ending and messages of love and self sacrifice but it's not about christmas.

Wasn't saying it was about Christmas. That was my point
Christmas doesn't have to be the subject of the movie for it to be considered a Christmas movie.

I have a Christmas Eve tradition of watching Die Hard. Church in 1.5 hours, dinner with family, then back to my place for Die Hard, alcohol, and strippers.
Hell, if I don't get to drunk, I'll watch Batman Returns too.
