I have to take Claritin during pollen season to fight off the allergies and I was just wondering if anyone here has had Claritin withdrawals (I know sounds pussy). I've been itching like a motherfricker all over since I stopped taking it. This is horrible.

I popped claritan like tic tacs. Now I have a prescription and I have to triple my dosage every day to have any kind of relief. I really need to see an allergist.

I do the generic Zirtec during allergy season, can't speak for Claritin. The Zirtec doesn't have any weird side effects. Now Claritin-D--if I take that I will probably sleep about 6 hours over the course of four days and feel like benchpressing cars and running through brick walls.

hmm that's pretty strange. Have you considered using it as pre-workout?

Hell yeah. I wasn't that bad at first, but then I started crushing them up and snorting them. That was great. My eyes wouldn't water or shite. So it progressed and I was melting them down and shooting them up. Talk about breathing clearly. Once I blew out all my veins I started freebasing. If you've never chased the pollen dragon you haven't lived.
Next thing I know I was trading sex for Claritin or if I couldn't find it I'd give handjobs for Zyrtec....which was ok but couldn't handle the ragweed benders I'd go on.
All in all, I turned my life around when I got arrested in a Walgreens parking lot after asking teenagers to score some for me in exchange for a bottle of Boons Farm. Now I'm high on Jesus and Benadryl.

For reals though....sorry about your problem. Prayers sent.

Weird side effect but not undocumented for antihistamines. Call the doc. Probably an allergist would be best.

Claritin makes my nose bleed, Zyrtec doesn't.

OP, it could just be allergies that are getting to you since you're not on an antihistamine anymore

Well, at least you didn't resort to buttchugging or selling your anus.

No, I've felt much better the last couple weeks. Felt like I was going to have a heart attack back in Feb/March due to the amount of antihistamines I was popping.

But I also alternate with ziertec and Allegra. Claritin "once a day" is a joke.

Unless you're taking an antihistamine combined with pseudo ephedrine, feeling side effects of the antihistamine is odd. You could take 3 or 4 antihistamine a day (especially Allegra) and not feel it at all.

I have bad allergies that were exacerbated by Mexico City's pollution and I usually take painkillers (just regular Tylenol) and it actually helps quite a bit. That way I don't have to keep popping allergy medication.

I popped some benadryl in order to stop the itching and it worked like a charm (I know it's like claritin) If the itching comes back I will shave my hair and devote myself to a monastery in a sign of protest against the FDA

If it's a cost issue, I understand. But the allergy Meds will be better tolerated by your system than the Tylenol. Especially if you're taking it regularly.

I've talked to multiple health professionals over the years. Yes, side effects are supposed to be rare. Maybe I'm just rare.

It certainly happens. There's no accounting for patient variability.

Yes! I ran out and my legs itch so bad it's the worst. How bad does it itch? Like a mothrfckr is as close as it can be described. I soaked them with witch hazel and it eased up enough to go to sleep. Good luck going cold turkey.

It’s because most allergy medications block release of histamine in your blood. When you no longer take it you body then power dumps histamine which can cause you to itch, especially along the paths of your larger vessels.
