Bar Etiquette questions

So many on here supposedly frequent the bar. While I'm a fairly seasoned drunk I don't really follow any etiquette about what is and isn't acceptable at the bar.
Here are some things i've seen people doing at the bar and I would appreciate some feedback. all scenarios include drinking because it's the bar and why would you go there to be sober?
1. going to the bar alone (just in general)but being at least somewhat social
2. reading a book
3. loudly carrying on with friends
4. wearing ed hardy
5. starting a fight with a dude wearing ed hardy assuming your not some little bitty dude as ed hardy guy is most likely on steroids.
6. drinking alone (no other activities just you and your drink of choice minding your own business)
What does the SECrOT think about acceptable behaviors at the bar, any scenarios you have questions about can be added to the OP, lets figure out what should and shouldn't be done at the bar.

What if you are drinking alone at an airport bar?

You may or may not ending up banging a middle aged real estate agent named Terri, who's at a conference out of town, at the airport Hilton. She may or may not give you the clap, but probably will.

Yeah that works too. I've drank alone at every bar the atlanta airport has to offer.

I go to the bar alone all the time during NBA playoffs, the weather is nice and everyone is there to watch basketball so it's easy to have conversations with strangers.

Fine. Often fun. Something insecure people are unable to do though.

2. reading a book
frick no. Wierd.

3. loudly carrying on with friends
Perfectly acceptable. Often expected.

4. wearing ed hardy
Don't care. Not really into what other men are wearing.

Fine if you are not feeling sociable and would rather have a drink at the bar than at home.

i am guilty of 1,2,3, and 6.
but I'm a loner. i fricking love going to restaurants/bars by myself. i'm married with two kids and while i like alone time, i don't care for the silence of a hotel room or an empty house.
i will say one time i went to a bone daddy's (hooters bbq here in TX) by myself. that was a bit awkward.

If you never do #3 you're not doing it right. Nothing wrong with 1 or 6 either. If you do any of the other three you might just suck.

well I feel way less like an alcoholic than I did before this thread. I tend to end up at the bar alone during the weeknights when i'm bored and i've always wondered what most people though of it. some friends accused me of having a drinking problem.
Option 3 is something I always thought was expected for a great night out, basically if you aren't a little rowdy then whats the point of going out with friends.
The rest of the options are things i've seen people do at the bar but haven't tried. seems like i'm doing ok not trying them though.

If I'm ever at a point in my life that I'm reading a book at a bar it will be time to sit down and have some serious reflection on where things are going.

I go to a bar for 3 main reasons:
1. Watch the game in a social environment with a lot of people.
2. To meet, chat with or pick up women.
3. To hang with buddies which may or may not involve getting loud and rowdy.
All 3 of the above are often combined in one outing, or work great in any combination or as an acceptable stand alone.

i'm 30 and married with 2 kids. i may be wrong but i'm guessing we may be at different points of where things are going.

Absolutely we are. However, that doesn't change how depressing the thought of reading at a bar is.

I go to the bar alone sometimes. Its a skill you learn as you get older.
Nobody goes to a bar to just drink, FYI. Its cheaper to drink at home.
