It matches up with my family history almost perfectly. I've said several times itt that it isn't an exact science, but more of a launch pad. Feel free to GFY and be a disrespectful cuck in another thread, guy. Like starting another thread bitching about Auburn to the East.

Appreciate it

My wife and I did it through Ancestry a couple of years ago. It is interesting, because it gives my breakdown as 65% Europe West, 18% Great Britain and 9% Ireland. My dad was first generation American with both of his parents being from the UK (London and Durham) and his father's line tracing back to Scotland. Mom's side of the family is a bit more diverse, with both lines having been in the states/colonies since the 1700s, but before that mostly German and Wales from what I have been able to trace (unfortunately her father's side deadends in Virginia in the 1700s).

The interesting thing is that it did match us up with family that have also done the test and are also members of Ancestry.

I really want my mother, mother-in-law and brother-in-law to do the tests as well. Since you only get 50% of each parent's DNA, I want to see if it helps expand on anything.

Side note: Another guy in my office took the test before I did and got his results back a few days ago. Going into the test he was positive he would see a good bit Native American and possibly Scandinavian. He was neither and pretty close to 100% British/Irish. He was a bit crushed to find out he had very little to no Cherokee inside of him. It's been a week and I think he's still taking it a little hard

Did he show you or simply tell you his results?

I asked because several people I know did it and its rare to have only a few sources in the results.

I'm lily white as my brothers and sister and we average 6% African blood.

I have done familytreeDNA, different type of results driven test. it actually gives you genetic markers to research, migration paths, and links to people with familiar DNA.

We did both a paternal test and maternal. Results were interesting, but we did find a few close DNA matches from Europe that even had the same last name.

I try to post up some photos. there were hosted by photobucket, but I guess now you have to pay.

It wasn't quite 100% British/Irish, but something like:

60% British
28% Irish
12% Western European

You're right, 100% anything or close to it is extremely rare. I've read that Native Americans and Ashkenazi Jews are a few of the only groups with many members able to test out to being close to pure. The Native Americans because of how isolated they were from the rest of the world for most of their history outside of the last 300-500 years the and the Ashkenazi Jews because of their distinct DNA and reluctance to marry outside of their bloodlines. I'm not sure how true that is, but it's something I've came across at some point or another.

Very possible if you are from the hills of Appalachia.

Tell me, what's it like being able to see with 240 degree vision?

I've read from legit sources that these dna tests end up in secret databases that are used by insurance companies to determine your coverage and premiums.

Now that I've got all my life insurance finally squared away, I'm thinking about taking one.

Actually, there's another U.S. location where there's a high concentration of immigrant Irish. I was born in Boston, and our family history there began in 1741.

You must be of English extract. Tell me, did you have your extra teeth removed or did you just let them pile up in the front of your mouth like most Brits do?

An Auburn buddy of mine figured out how to get around that...he gave them a bogus name.

I have not. My wife has, and the results were not a surprise. But I'm not sure they have the ancestry bit nailed down. In the news lately are the Dahm triplets, identical triplets who used 23andme. The tests revealed that they are in fact identical, BUT their ancestry came back somewhat different, which doesn't make sense. (The article makes this sound like a bigger deal than the numbers reflect, but they're still significantly different.) It at least appears that 23andme is tossing a coin.

Why am I not surprised that you don't know how DNA works?

You're a terrible poster.

I know my family tree.

We come from England, Germany, Denmark and Poland.

The only problem is that everyone in Europe "blended" at some time in their history as well.

So did Americans.

People like to screw one another and have babies.

You don't ask about these things beforehand. It just happens.

We are all pretty "mixed" right now, and what is wrong with that?

America is just a unique country with some really mixed cultures involved.

Sex happens.

I think that this type of test is a scam.

Your family tree will serve you better...but if you don't have that information then just use skin tone, eye color and hair color to decide.

And feel at peace.

Someone in your generation just saw someone else and intercourse ensued. Thus...."us".

Stop paying money for this shite.

You will never know. Our previous generations were horney people just like today.

AMERICA.
