A question for Tennessee, LSU, and Arkansas fans

Do any of you have any experience with your school's medical campus? I am considering these places for grad school. UT's is in Memphis, LSU's is in Shreveport, and I believe Arkansas' is on the main campus but I could be wrong. I guess what I am asking is if you think highly of the campuses in these cities and any general opinions of the cities themselves. I am already fairly familiar with Memphis but I know next to nothing about Shreveport or Arkansas' campus. Thanks in advance guys. Oh, and I am not going to medical school, it is just that the graduate program I am interested in is located within the medical complexes.

Arkansas' actual medical school is located in Little Rock. No clue if your program would be there or not.

Do they have anything similar in Nashville as that city is becoming a hub for healthcare in the south.

I know Arkansas has the program and the set up that I but I forgot that it was in Little Rock, many thanks.

I don't think so. If I understand correctly UT has their main campus and then the one in Memphis. Now, Vandy may have something there but I haven't even looked into them because I would never ever be able to afford them.

The more notable one is in New Orleans

Arkansas now has a satellite med campus in Fayetteville, but its not a part of the main campus. There is a PT school starting there this fall I think. Otherwise, UAMS NW campus is for 3rd and 4th yr med students only.

LSU's primary Medical School is located in downtown New Orleans across the freeway from the Superdome. I park there for Saints games all the time.
There is major growth and construction going on in the area. The new VA Hospital and new University Medical Center are set to open in August.

Yeah UT's is in Mempiss. You become very good at treating gun shot wounds there.

LSU has two, actually. The one in New Orleans is generally considered the more prestigious of the two, so you may want to also try to get into that one.

the one in Shreveport is actually just part of the LSU system. I think LSU proper's is in New Orleans.
That ebbing said i hear good things about the one isn shreveport. I know some very smart people who went through there.

My gf toured both the Shreveport and New Orleans LSU Med school. She chose the NOLA one.

What graduate program are you doing just curious? The medical complex in Shreveport is average, the hospital is very average and kind of old, but the research buildings are fairly new (10-15 years old) and nicer. The city of Shreveport is below average. Fun if you have a lot of other grad student classmates to hangout with. But if you don't know anyone or have other classmates to do stuff with, there is not much going on. The city lacks mid 20 year old professionals, so its hard to meet new people unless you are in class with them. I was there for 4 years of med school and had a blast. Went back to visit when a friend got married and it was very depressing. I have only visited Little Rock a few times and from the appearance of the city it seems to be a little more entertaining than Shreveport, but not by much. No way I would go to Memphis, that place makes New Orleans look clean.
