...already seems to be popping up. Several of my once-loyal-to-Mizzou friends are muttering a common theme of "Here we go again--2 or 3 years away from a good team. frick 'em."

I was a little surprised to hear this discouragement so early in the season, but, I must remember, we are Mizzou fans.

You hearing (or feeling) the virus?

To a certain degree regarding this season, but it feels a bit different this time around in that it seems the enthusiasm is still there for Drink's program due to his recruiting success. The vibe I feel is not "if" we're going to be good in a couple of years but "when" we are going to be good in a couple of years.

That said, as disappointed as I was at the BC loss, I'm not ready to pack it in on this season yet. I'll definitely be watching the Tennessee game even though I can't make it to CoMo.

Definitely. And it has to do with how they're getting destroyed physically on defense. It's demoralizing. Combined with the knowledge teams like Georgia and Arkan5a5 are gonna skullfrick us if it doesn't change and in a goddamn hurry. And that's the real rub... It hasn't against all levels of competition.

Who wants to watch your team raped dry play after play?

I said it earlier give Drinkwitz time with what roster he has to deal with right now. Also he is still new to the SEC and being a HC for only 2+ years. The DC will also need time to get his players and get familiar with SEC teams. He was a coach in the NFL for a long time. He is now coaching in College now. College isn't the same as the NFL. 8-4 is still doable.

For sure.

Mizzou fans suck for the most part. Especially the casual one. They simply can’t understand why we can’t be Alabama and the concept of building a team is completely lost on them.

It really doesn’t matter though. Start winning and the bandwagon will fill back up.

Feels like early Pinkel days. You felt hope with where the offense was going as it seemingly could score pretty well, but then you knew you didn't have the horses on the line to really give it the full go. It's just we had a glimmering of hope so it has become

Not apathy towards the program but probably a bit towards the season. Can all change by playing differently than you have so far. See the Cardinals. In much the same way I would follow but wasn’t energized to follow. Play better and now it’s appointment TV. Same can happen with Mizzou. I just don’t find this team fun to watch particularly on defense. Change that and the energy comes back

We are apathetic to this season because we know Drink can't correct all the wrongs in 1 season. This season is a reckoning on our previous recruiting and I think most real fans know that.

Better days are coming, because our recruiting says so.

I said give Drinkwitz time to get his players in at full strength. That takes about 3 or 4 years. Odom had to do it his way of rebuilding. The difference is Odom still couldn't get better recruits when he started to win. Then he couldn't beat teams he should have beaten that were underdog and had lesser talents. Drinkwitz did lose two games but those two teams are undefeated right now! I can see the vision what he has set for this team. This team is competing and isn't giving up. He is getting better players for the future to compete with the rest of the SEC teams.

The problem kind of becomes a self fulfilling prophecy though because I imagine the shitty home crowds make it more difficult to recruit than it should be. Hell, Drink is probably embarrassed to bring a recruit in on game weekends

He seems to be doing a damn fine job of working around the issue though, so there’s that

The fanbase is going to check out even more. Missourians have other entertainment options to choose from.

We’ve got a group going to Scar. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t having second thoughts.

I was going down for the A&M game. I already told my son I’m still coming down but look at alternate plans. Hopefully Cards are still playing and can grab some cold ones and watch that game
