I want mizzou football fans at the games, not hunters. If mizzou game day doesn't come first I dont want to hear it.

Sterk don't give a shite. He only cares about large donors, not the every day fan. He has the same problem Alden had.

At some point Mizzou has to realize it has to cater to LOCAL fans to fill up a stadium or arena and those local fans are not the people in KC or STL.

They have to make it affordable, fun and convenient. It has to be a better gameday experience.

It doesn't help the school nor the AD ever apologized for calling the boosters, alumni, students, etc. racist. Stepping up, acknowledging the mistake and saying sorry would go a looooong way.

The alums/fans in this thread who do not attend games are the real problem. If you live in the State of Missourah and do not buy season tickets or have never attended a Tiger bowl game, please point at yourself unless you are providing for your family on Saturdays. If you live in Missourah or a surrounding state and don't attend at least one game per year minimum...just sad.

You...the alums/fans are the ones to fill the seats. We are the only ones that are going to do it, not the deer hunters, soccer moms or the drunks down at the lake. Look at yourself. It's up to us.

(Me - four season tickets for years and have attended Mizzou SECCGs and bowls.)

allow me to address another group that never gets called out.

The residents of Columbia Missouri. The size of the city is far big enough to have faurot decently full always. They should be able to get 40-45k always, which would leave 26k to be between Students, KC, and STL. Not hard. People from STL and KC not making the drive get the heat pretty often, as they should, but what else do the residents of como have to do???

Some random thoughts:

Back in the day, late 60s into 70s, the student sections were always crowded. We would squeeze so many people into the rows that it looked like a cattle pen. Most people were there before the game started. It was just the thing to do on Saturday afternoons.

There may have been a large chunk of folks that said they were done in 2015 and meant it. Who knows.

It sure looks bad on TV from the west side looking east and prime seats are empty.

We have solid fan base of about 40 - 45,000. The key is to have a marketing program to sell the other 20,000 seats. I don't know what the method or logistics would be, but I'd try to get the unsold tickets into the hands of high schoolers, middle schoolers and even grade schoolers. Maybe we can create a future fan base.

I drive a long way every year to attend one game (Auburn last year), but if I lived within 300 miles of Columbia, I'd get season tickets. We even drove to Shreveport in 2005!

It is sad what's happened. I sure wish I had the answer.

There are so many issues there isn't simple solution unless we decide to go out and win multiple National Championships within a 3-5 year time frame.

Just winning more will help, but won't be a fix for all of it. Shrinking the stadium as we are helps, but doesn't fix it. Reducing prices on non-luxury seats will help but won't fix it. Rewarding people who use their tickets would help. Having a way to re-sell tickets you can't use through the AD would help.

Hell, even starting a marketing assault and making it clear that Mizzou is the team to represent the entire state and putting some real state pride into the program would probably help quite a bit.

If we buy 10 more billboards on I-70, that will definitely do it.

Nice fricking troll thread again. Since it's here, I'll play. I agree 100%.

frick the big money donors because they don't give nearly big enough.

frick the STL and KC fans because they only come to COMO when convenient and the team is good.

frick the COMO fans because they don't come in big enough numbers on the regular. I mean, shite, you are only minutes from the University.

frick the student section because they barely show up and when they do show up they don't know how to support a team.

frick the fans that use pro sports teams as an excuse. Don't you know that you should choose a Mizzou game in October against Vandy over a play off baseball game?

frick the bandwagon fans. Don't they know they should devote their time and their money to a program even when it is mediocre at best.

Most of all, frick the fans that start troll threads on their own teams board.

Oh, and frick the poster that has to respond to the troll. (thanks navynuke)

Did I miss anyone?

If you're marketing a product, and the sales are disappointing...either the potential customers are all stupid, misguided jerks or the product isn't particularly appealing.

Students tailgate and then go to parties instead of attending games. They could make a big difference in the crowds, but our fans do need to step it up.

So Mizzou loses fans for a silly protest...yet Penn State has 100k fans after an embarrassing scandal?

Penn State has 40 years of history as one of the elite schools in the country a good portion of that time. Consistent winning is the only way it gets better.

A vast majority of the fanbase prefers to derp the "show me" bull shite when it comes to donating and attendence. They are also the first people to scratch their heads and asses with the same hand when the AD can't get the coach they are pining away for

You mean Barry Odom is a failure? I disagree with you. It will take Barry 3 years to fix the problems. So far Missouri got back to bowl game last year. Now this year I expect Missouri to win 8 or more regular season games. That will be two in a row. Got to keep things positive and so far Barry was able to hire good coaches to replace the one left or were fired. One was his fault with Cross. But he learned a huge lesson. Not to do that because he was his buddy and it did not work out and that is what Gary Pinkel did and rarely change coaches because he was loyalty to them. I believe Barry Odom will be better than Gary Pinkel will ever be. I am already seeing it. Have faith in MIZZOU!

I didn't say anything about Odom. I'm saying that considering Missouri has the 5th highest population of all the SEC states, having 8000 people donate to the AD yearly is terrible.
