Today was a great day for Mizzou fans as they have a glimpse of their future starting QB. Next week will be a real test against Florida.

But......Chase Abbington. I just don't understand whats going on here between him and this coaching staff. Ish gained good yards today. But can we agree that Ish can't run with contact, of any kind? Someone touches him and he's on the ground. Meanwhile Chase comes in and busts a run up the gut for almost 10 yards and is taken out of the game. It's the kind of run game Mizzou is missing. Tough physical downhill running to contact and he made some contact then shunned to the sideline. Chase looked a little frustrated with that also. Did I see this right? Why the heck do you take a back out that just ran the ball down a defenses throat with authority?

I'm finding this mindset hard to understand.

That's not the first time that's happened.

I think Chase can contribute more than the staff are willing to admit.

I just don't understand why they aren't willing to admit it.

I know. That's whats so mind boggling. Chase is the type.of back you need in the SEC. Hans is like a hybrid of the two. He's not that big but runs big and is a great open field runner. He runs through multipule tackles. Ish can't run by himself through the open field without falling down. Chase has to be used more along with Hunt. Hunts earned more playtime also. That was a hell of an effort on that firstdown run today. But Chase needs more touches.

I kind of wonder if it's some of the old Pinkel coming out. Not wanting to get too far away from his scat back theory of offense. Or is it not Pinkel but Henson?

I think they are teaching him a lesson about not being in shape for camp.

He looked pissed when he came out today.

He's probably sending the staff the wrong signals about learning his lesson.

He'll get more touches going forward, he has too. They aren't as dumb as Jagd thinks they are.

Unless there's some "attitude" problem we don't know about, I'm also perplexed. While Ish made some good runs today, I agree, a light hand slap on the thigh flattens him.

Hunt has earned more plays, and Abbington...???WTF?

I guess you saw my post in the other thread on this..

it's like: "ok Abbington we're gonna let you play one play and if you do TOO GOOD, we're gonna have to bench you for 10 series"..

"uhhhh ok coach, I'll try not to embarrass your other RB's.. too much.. "

"oops sorry coach, did I get too many yards again?,, darn it"

it's shite like this that makes you think EzeE may have had a good reason for going elsewhere.

I was upset to see Hansbrough back in the game after he tweaked his ankle. Then he's running in garbage time, really didn't understand that either.

Tyler Hunt should play more.

Witter on the goal line, still makes no sense.

I thought the EXACT SAME THING,,, like wtf, why is he in at garbage time or even Whitter for that matter when you have Hunt and Abbington.

This guy at the maneater describes my thoughts on Pinkel and his inconsistent consistent decision making,, he was all in on Lock and had it pretty well covered a month ago..

yea but he scored so we "proved" that the idiotic use of him last week was really "brilliance in disguise"..

to watch a Pinkel coached team, laughing and drinking are pretty much requirements.

To be fair, Witter scored on the goal line today.

He had his best day as a Tiger imo, and I've been as hard as anyone on him. I don't blame the coaches for sticking with him.

I certainly didn't understand Hansbrough coming back out though.

I'm liking what I'm seeing lately from Ish. Getting better at reading holes. That spin move was sweet, guy totally whiffed.

I wouldn't mind seeing Abington get more carries as Hansbrough gets healthy, but keep feeding Ish.

The guy at the Maneater had the right conclusions, but (in my best Christopher Walken in Joe Dirt intonation)... "his tone is all wrong." He comes off like a smug, snot-nosed Millennial who's 6'4" behind a keyboard and 5'8" with his orthopedic inserts.

Leaving the Mauk allegations aside... You don't bench your 17-5 starting quarterback until you've given him sufficient rope to hang himself. It sends the wrong message to the team regarding loyalty if you pull the ripcord too soon. Regardless, the change was coming

Even as dumb as some people think Pinkel is, he had to do the math and see this team was going to struggle to become bowl eligible continuing as they were. There's no way he was going to sit idly by and risk digging another 2012 recruiting hole to keep playing Mauk. Not with a talent like Lock in the wings.

And as things worked out a soft South Carolina was the perfect launching pad.

Let's just hope Florida doesn't beat the shite out of him next week.

I think the running game improved because the passing game is so much less predictable and working better.

Mauk never, and I mean never would pass over the short middle. Teams figured out to play the Safeties back and LBs in the box. USC couldn't do that. LBs weren't there to plug things up, as was the case in prior games.

Abbington froze on a sweep run play against UCONN. That's like a mortal sin for RBs, especially in the SEC. It's going to be limited plays he's trusted with.
