We looked pretty shitty in Game 1. Our lines really played awful on both sides (the QB pressure was mostly blitzes and we were consistently gashed with the run). That’s likely going to be a big problem. I was looking at the depth chart the other day and we don’t have a single 300 lb player on defense. We are playing several 260/270 lbs guys in the DT rotation. We moved a safety out of the nickel position (where he was great btw) and inserted a 175 lb corner. Thought KAD played well though. The LB got home on some blitzes, but aside from that I thought they played awful against the run.

On offense we really didn’t play well at all either. Bazelak was simply ok. He missed on a few deep throws after connecting on his first one. He’s pretty good if he’s got an open receiver but I’m just not sure he has it. Seems like a game manager type that would do well on an elite team. The WR really didn’t do a whole lot of anything. Zero catches for Lovett. I don’t like the way they are using Cooper. Boo looked like our best one and he’s 150 lb JUCO guy who didn’t have any other offers when he got here. The OL was average at best. We have a couple really fast backs that will break some runs every so often as a virtue of that, but also stuffed at or behind the LOS way too much.

I know it’s just week 1 and we can improve. Hopefully we do because if not it’s going to be a long year. Mistakes would be one thing, but we just didn’t look very talented and that’s not a problem you can really fix in season.

Now, let’s hope they come out and make me look real dumb next week in Lexington

We just don’t have many good upperclassmen right now.

BallZak can’t miss on those throws. If he doesn’t play better we may see Macon.

I think everything you said is spot on.

Central Michigan owned the LOS until the fourth quarter. That’s not a good sign for us as we enter SEC play.

Bazelak looked serviceable. But he didn’t look like an amazing QB. He didn’t make any huge mistakes. He didn’t look great on deep balls.

We look really small on defense. Baldredge would be the size of a safety on most SEC teams.

We will see what we will see.

CB reminds me a lot of Kyle trask.

I 100% agree with you here. Odom left us with nothing, I mean it's sad in regards to our current upperclassman.

I thought CB had great pocket presence and I am very happy with his poise and play.

That being said, I will probably be betting the house on UK -5.

Guys, we're paying the price for poor recruiting. It took Florida State 3 years to come back and they still don't have a high level QB.

We love Mizzou, and we tried to tell ourselves that Odom was doing a good job recruiting, but he wasn't. We got lucky with the Elliot transfer, because he had a connection with Brick, but that's the kind of recruits we need on a regular basis.

We've got to get Wesolak to consider Mizzou, we gotta go hard after the 4 star Omaha LB who won state in the 100 and is friends with DeShawn Woods.

The offense needs to be able to score points because the defense doesn't look very tough. I hate the idea of having to blitz to get pressure against a team with inferior talent.

I hate Kentucky. Daniel Boone was kind of okay though, I guess. The Bluegrass State seems to like to run horses to death for sport or profit. they also are home to the real Smurfs for whatever reason.

It's home to The Douchewaffle who destroyed American democracy. That's enough for me.

I tried to warn you. This is a long term project. You can get skill postitions out of the portal, but lines have to be recruited and developed. Something Odom did NOT do.

Drink is working on it, witness the flip today. But we ain't winning the East this year. Though I do think the team will play better, now that the staff has seen them under fire and know what needs work. Practice can only tell you so much.

Also, we know Odoms players do not do well when wet.

Im not giving drink a pass with a bare cupboard excuse. 1 for 11 on 3rd downs. His offensive play calling was horrendous. I thought there was a stretch in the second quarter where the defense was getting stops and we did stuff like counter options on second and 3 that lost 7 yards and let them stay in the game.

Pretty spot on. The only other thing I found myself yelling at the tv is “Just play fricking football.” We don’t or shouldn’t need the cutesy gimmicky crap against what should be an inferior team.

My one concern with Drink is that he needed the gimmicky shite when at an inferior school and he continues that shite when at a P5 school, albeit a middle of the pack program.

Ok that's a good point. It would be nice to get an actual OC to compliment Drink.

Reedus

I think the play calling was reserved and held back.

The runs were all very vanilla.

I think we will see the playbook open up against Kentucky. Whether the team executer or not is up in the air.

I agree with this. I think/hope we held a lot back. We shall see. We do need a clear #2 back. This is a team that needs to pound the ball and maybe involve a TE in the passing game more often.

There’s another benefit to the gimmicky shite. It keeps defenses on their heels if they think you might use it. For instance, They can play action mookie on a sweep and the kentucky LBs will bite because they saw that play on film. That opens up a pass to Badie or a TE where the Lb should be.

Drink is an offensive genius playing chess and we are not seeing his moves setting up for next week. We are still thinking like odom is on charge. Or the dipshits he had for OCs.

I’m hoping we were intentionally keeping the play calls bland. Get the W but don’t give away any good looks.

Deep call from Conner B. could have been better.

The usage of Mookie Cooper was pretty much dump the ball to him near the LOS and pray he dances his way into a first down.

Agreed on both Lines. Getting gashed in the running games was especially discouraging.

All in all - survive and advance. At least we didn’t have a Wyoming repeat. Then we would know we are fricked.

Before you do that check this site from 247sports for week two betting for the Missouri=5.5 at Kentucky. This expert is picking Missouri. Will Missouri win the game or just beat the point spread? He said this " I believe Missouri can throw the ball well on Kentucky and be competitive."

Let's move on from Odom; he's gone and isn't coaching a Mizzou game in the foreseeable future.

OL was bad
Gap control on D was undisciplined; remind anyone of Kul's D?
DBs looked good
Badie is underrated
