You're absolutely correct. I was just commenting on why I think Wilkes chose that alignment. Limit the run and force the pass vs 5 DBs.

But you are correct, very important for the LBs to do their job and fill those gaps.

Y'know, last year after the LSU game everyone expected Drink to throw the ball all over the yard, (thoughts he encouraged) instead he ground pounded UK to death.

This year everyone seems to think Badies going to get 40 touchs. I wonder . . .

Had our LBs did this against Auburn when we played for the SEC we'd have won.

Problem was too many LB's we ran a fricking 3 front vs a run heavy team, love Steck but that was stupid as hell. Even more so that we were D-Line U not LB and Safety U.

Right before the first game he said something to the extent of he didn't really know what he had as far as the team goes. That's not good.

I don’t disagree that a good chunk of the play calling was vanilla and then we’d run a double flea flicker with a twist and lose 5 yards. Those are the plays I can’t stand against what should be lesser competition

He had a terrible game. No doubt.

I can only recall him making one play on a 3rd down stop. Nice pass breakup, but he was out of position all night and trip on his feet on the blocked kick. That should have been a scoop and score

I didn't see Akaleyb-Evans (?) last night.
Did Kentucky never throw his way, or was he hardly playing?

He played. Kentucky hardly threw at all because they really didn’t have to

When I see Kentucky, I see Mizzou if Mizzou stayed the course with Odom. Him and Stoops are similar in many ways. Now the question is, do you consider Stoops tenure at Kentucky success?

Odom couldn't recruit at Stoops' level. Not sure why. Other than that, you might be right. Kentucky could have hired a better mind than Stoops, though, and probably sped up the build a little. Which is what we are doing with Drinkwitz. Just let him build, and keep him when the investment pays off.

To underline this Gabe had a stat that Kentucky's team fielded 22 four-stars plus a 5* while Mizzou's had 9 four-stars, no 5's, with 4 or 5 of the four-stars being Drink freshmen.

Odom was no Mark Stoops.

Just reinforces how important it is for the fanbase to stay engaged.

We can probably double that number just with this class alone, but obviously this is no overnight turnaround. The talent isn’t there for that.

My only expectation for this year is to improve as the year goes along and keep recruiting. We have the right guy for the job but the fans must also do their part.

With the Chiefs not missing a beat and the Cardinals now back into playoff contention, Drink's job just got a little bit harder.

The difference between Mark Stoops and Barry Odom is time. Stoops built that program up to where it is now. He didn't have that level of recruiting in those first few years. Odom never got the time.

Sorry but losing to fricking Vandy, Tennessee and Wyoming in the same year as 18 point facorite are all fireable offenses. Add to that absolute embarrassing losses to LSU, Florida, kentucky and Georgia. Good guy, good DC, True Son but needed to go.

Odom's recruiting rank got worse every year. He's calling the Arkansas defense with someone else's recruits. He's a good DC, not a HC.
