Just for giggles I flipped through the SEC blog on ESPN.

There is literally no coverage for Mizzou since the season started.
I know someone brought this up here a couple weeks ago but its pretty amazing that we are the second biggest afterthought for those clowns next to Vanderbilt.
Oh well. Not that I follow ESPN regularly anyway but thats a fairly big slap in the face to a program that is the 6th in FBS wins over last 6-7 years.

Yeah. For the most part, these SEC honks just pander to the base.
And the old schooler's can't stand that Mizzou and aTm have not only competed and succeeded, but that they've done it playing the XII style. It's a huge blow to their egos that Ol' Shel was actually right about old man football and the days of 9-6 games was over.
So is anybody else feeling good about our chances against South Carolina in two weeks? Without even asking, I know Tiger Cruise is. I really like our odds of Mauk & Co. making hay against that D, and our DL getting Thompson off his game to cough up turnovers.

I live in Memphis ( a melting pot for the SEC) and I like to play ignorant about SEC football. Everytime a Vol fan ask me what I know about UT I just say " Well you are 0-2 against us. You must be our bitch" shuts them up every time. Along with Ole Miss fans which are thick as flies in Memphis.

I don't know if that would have changed even if we found a way to beat Auburn last year. It seems regardless of what a team has done in recent history, it's the teams that have done well in the distant past that get the ink. Part of me wishes that would change. Part of me says keep playing the disrespect card.

I don't like the fact that now the XII thinks our success means they are a good conference.
There is a vibe around the program now, that would have never existed if we were still over there. Same goes for aTm. It's not the same world, and it pisses me off that the kstates of the world think they can come to the SEC and compete because we have.
It's why nights like tonight will be glorious. This will be kstates measuring stick, and they gonna go home with their tails between their legs.

they're ESPin for a reason, pandering to the base sure, but it's really just them bowing to the hand that feeds them, they live on ratings and the SEC base gives them the ratings.
If when Mizzou can bring the ratings they will pander to us too.
Wish I could feel so confident about the USC game but they have a coach that exploits weakness's and we have some to exploit. Better to hope they used up their luck in the close one with UGA and we can squeak out a victory.

I could almost root for k State, mostly due to obnoxious AU fans on the SECr ......also partly due to friendship with many k state fans. On the other hand, since many of our former rivals thought we could not compete in our new conference.....

Mizzou placed 2 games in the top 10 of all time regular season TV ratings back in 2007. One was ku who does not have a big name.
Last year Mizzou was top 20 in ratings while not playing on CBS but for one game. We are regularly top 20 in national merchandise sales, too. Mizzou doesn't have a small fanbase.

we aren't in the top 20 in pulling viewer ratings, we're average at best in the SEC, when we're better than average we will bring the slavish media attention.

Damn, I didn't expect those numbers. Impressive especially when you consider we only played 2 teams with higher numbers.

I'm with you on this.
Among the small handful of asshat SECr fan bases, Aubies are THE worst. So seeing them lose wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least.
What were they like in 2012 @ 3-9? Did they ever shut up or stop making self-aggrandizing threads?

While it does surprise me on one hand, on another it doesn't. We're a TV watching state. St. Louis has massive local ratings for both local and national broadcast, especially local. Even for the shite arse Rams.
