Mizzoufan26, I know we had our little spat here once, but I just wanted to say, thanks for serving our country. I appreciate it.

I agree....thanks for serving our country.

Now, all seriousness aside, serve your Mizzou brethren by helping your boy Killz in the Sunday morning rant thread.

Well thank you guys, just a job though. I'm from Franklin Meth Capital County. It has allowed me to get away from there and never look back while so many others fell into that. The military has done alot more for me then I'll ever be able to give back.

I was thinking..

It's kind of interesting that you get paid what you do, plus a housing and food allowance, while getting free meals on base.

And Hawaii is in such disarray. Huge meth problem. Huge homeless problem. Yet your employer is spending a million dollars to update the furniture. They're greatly overpaying petty workers so they go along with the program. It's all just sickening.

And you get to be on a message board while you're on the clock serving our country. Obviously thanks for going over to the middle east, but based on your job I'd bet you were you on a base while you were over there.

A wish of mine is we thanked our military differently. My brother in law did ROTC. He went to a great school for free, got to live in a great apartment for free with food allowance while in school. He will never have to fight. He does his service on bases only. They live near Destin Florida with a similar set up as yours with a housing allowance and food, while being overpaid. He will probably go over and do a tour, but he'll be stationed at a base the whole time. Yet he'll get the same blind "ohhh thank you" as the guy who is doing the dirty work who isn't living in Hawaii or FLA with a hefty living allowance. Not that both situations don't deserve a thank you, I just think its stupid the way people slobber over your type. I'm just being honest.

ETA: You're from Franklin Meth County you say.. but now you're living in a state crippled by meth. I'm just sayin... But at least you're doing great, that's what matters.

Mogray,

Let off the trottle just a little bit bro. Think about what you're saying and to whom you're saying it to.

Don't turn this into another regrettable Jafo incident.

Trust me, I take back every word I say as I write it, and I also want to say more at the same time. I have two voices in my head.

What you said, I said to myself. I know it's wrong and something I'll regret, but I also know what I said is how I feel. Its frustrating. A lot of times I wish I was more of a docile person that didn't think about too much.

I appreciate your advice, I really do.

My job is medical so no I do not have a big roll in going off base. This isn't the job I signed up for when I joined the military, but because of having higher scores and talents it's the job I was put into. Due to that in Iraq I worked in the hospital and in Afghanistan I worked with Air Evac overseeing incredibly fricked up men getting to a hospital that has the ability to save their lives. While youre right I didn't get shot at daily, it's also a very important necessary job. As a grown arse man it's also a very helpless job seeing kids younger then you guys older then you coming in daily like this.

I work 12 hour shifts and since my sole job is command and control for Air Evacuation missions as long as noone is dieing then yes I do have downtime. It's an entirely customer driven job. In that downtime I am thus able to spend time on here. More so I work here overnight by myself. Unless you think that me sitting at a desk solo with nothing to pass the time would somehow increase productivity I don't understand how my ability to post here hinders anything.

Hawaii and Franklin county are quite difference and heres exactly how. If you do not get out of Franklin county you will solely end up doing construction or working a factory job on the high end. The low end would be a druggy. There are many more options here for people then there are in Missouri.

I am really unsure why you're doing this. I'm really over talking about it though because i'm not trying to play "look at me" but when you sit here and so blatantly attempt to downplay what I do and disrespect me it's hard not to reply.

You think that anyone that puts on a uniform should be slobbered over? I disagree. Some are highly paid and have virtually no risk. Example, my brother in law hanging out in Florida pocketing nearly every dime he makes because our tax dollars pay for his beach side condo.

It would be one thing if the guy hacking it away everyday on a hot roof or laying asphalt or whatever miserable job just to support his family was getting slobbered over too, but he isn't.

I'm stopping there.

I wonder what paramedics in rough cities see most days.. they are appreciated but far from bowed down and thanked endlessly.

I just find it interesting that you're paid so handsomely and given so much allowance, but your job allows you to spend a decent amount of time on a message board.

I'd feel the same way if I thought like you.

I understand its taboo to say controversial things, but I'm not like most people who's brains shut off at the site of something controversial.

There is truth to what I've said, it's just not very nice to say it.

Heard of a mortar? Turns out they like those quite a bit over there and we would get them near daily. Heard of Afghani soldiers? Aka waiting to kill you when it's most opportune.

As if SECr is where anyone would rather be. I'd much rather be at home laying next to my wife then browsing this gem of a site. I guess I shouldn't mention I also sometimes have to take a shite and get paid to do that as well. :O

Believe it or not, I wasn't actually in the consult meeting for military pay either. I haven't ever written my own pay check. I do my job, have made my rank as fast as I was able and they just direct deposit it into my account.

This egotistical and abrasive attitude is probably in large part why you are experiencing many of your personal issues you've alluded to here on this board. If that ticks you off, perhaps you should read the posts you wrote as if they were written to you by someone else and see how they'd make you feel. It is likely you have difficulty empathizing, though. So it probably won't have any effect. Thus the life issues. Good luck, man.

You really are unbelievable sometimes.

If you have never put on a uniform in service to this country or better yet have had to go down range and serve a combat tour then you really just need to shut the frick up with the nonsense man.

Seriously.

You have no idea bro, no fricking idea at all.

Here's my discussion......Yes, long over due.

Let him get on with what ever life changing events that has transposed this team into a three ring circus, and ship him and his coaching staff down the road.

I think it's time to shoot the Pinkel copter out of the sky.

Did you read any of what I said? Or did the anti military alarm go off so you gave the standard generic response?

This man, just like my brother-in-law never went to combat. By most standards they live a life of luxury in a beautiful place, with housing and food paid in addition to unreasonably high salaries. Sure a little tour in the middle east is due, which is spent entirely at a makeshift Holiday Inn, that's hardly combat (yes I know bad things still happen).

My opinion that we should differentiate between this type of 'soldier' and the real ones is far from out there, it's just an uncommon thing to hear. I think its unfair to the hero's here at home that don't ever get recognition, people that fight and claw everyday to support a family. That guy doesn't have people lining up to slobber all over him. Yet this guy or my brother-in-law who have their entire life secure financially and live in places like Hawaii on tax money should get thanked the same as a combat soldier? And if anyone who supports things like million dollar furniture sprees because money was left over in the budget is the one with no idea. People don't like to be challenged and hear taboo or uncommon things.. but when it's broken down it usually makes sense.

Yes. It's been 12 years, we've seen all he can do. Force him to make some coaching changes, if he complies he gets one more chance. If he refuses, then he's gone.

I've speculated all season that I think the idea of starting over in a new conference doesn't excite him. It's a daunting task, and he's already been down that road rebuilding Mizzou.

But none of this matters. He won't go anywhere, Alden will give him a pass.

Yep, I read a lot of what you said. Thats seems to be your major problem, people reading what you write.

There is an immense amount of irony and hypocrisy having you tell others that they "don't like to be challenged" about their thoughts. You take dissenting opinions to your own opinions and posts about as personal as anyone I have ever seen on a message board.

I make fun of POGS all the time while I served where they never left the FOB (FOBbits we liked to call them). It pissed me off at times where I would spend weeks at time outside the wire or operate out of a company level COP. That being said I will defend them from fools like yourself that have never served a fricking day in his life yet has the nerve to criticize their sacrifice and feels that you are qualified to judge who is worthy of being a "real soldier" and who is not.
