"Any season in which you make the tournament is decent...This wasn't a disastrous year that should have anyone debating Cuonzo Martin's job security."

So, let's all be happy, eh?

And, by damn, Gabe doesn't suffer negativity. Don't you dumb asses even think about wanting a change. Don't even express your thoughts!

"There is a zero percent chance Cuonzo Martin is fired. Literally zero. Not very small, not slightly more than zero, not almost zero. ZERO. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, if you don't understand why read his contract. You can feel free to pound your keyboard into submission to let everyone know that you think Missouri should move on from him. But it’s absolutely not going to happen."

Gabe is a ball washer.

Power Mizzou has fallen off a cliff since the move to the SEC.

No one is seriously debating his job security. He likely has a job as long as he wants one at Mizzou provided we get a season like we had this year every three years or so.

We’re just seriously debating the ceiling of the program with him as coach. It looks like this year is close to his ceiling.

and just because CM won't get fired that doesn't mean people can't want him fired. it would be justified.

Pointing to his contract buyout clause as the reason he’s not getting fired cedes the point that he hasn’t really produced on the court.

from 1976-2013, Mizzou made the tournament 25 times. About 2/3 of the time. With more teams than ever making it, we should be able to sustain that. Doubt it happens with Martin, though I like what I know of him as a person.

Gabe sucks so bad. I can’t believe people pay to be berated by him.

He’s got the very typical “I’m a sportswriter, I’m smarter than you attitude”

I think almost everyone understands he won’t be fired, but for him to say no one should be questioning the job he is doing is just pompous, out of touch bullshite.

I've never understood why we're identified as whining crybabies just because we'd like to see excellence in our sports teams.

The AD department sure isn't shy about asking for my money. I'd like some return on my investment in the form of competitive teams. I don't think that's asking too fricking much.

How would firing CCM be justified after he made another NCAA tourney? How do you justify typing that? Mizzou fans need to get with the program, both football and basketball. Our fandom lacks compared to the rest of the SEC.

I don’t even know if firing is justified. But I don’t think it’s out of bounds to not be happy with this season. We won’t have a player like tilmon come through our program again for quite awhile.

"We beat Oral Roberts and Illinois in December 2020!"

Am I doing this right?

I don’t think anyone is thinking fire him because of this year. It is because of he hasn’t got a thing set up for next year.

We are looking at a starting lineup in which the best two players are Kobe Brown and Javon Pickett. And that’s the good news.

The sad part is this was the high water mark of a four year build. Yippee!

This is the answer. This was a fine year and I don't think anyone is outraged over a 9 seed in the tournament, not ecstatic about it but it's a solid year. It's the fact that this was the peak and next year there is just about nothing coming back and no big-time recruits coming in.

Seeing Mizzou fans being okay with the state of our basketball program and seeing this season has some “success” story while watching our basketball team be out coached on a National stage pisses me off.

Yeah, we aren’t a Blue Blood and there isn’t anything we can do about that. However, throwing 2nd teir quality players out there with an Elementary offense and a coach that makes substitutions that make zero fricking sense is something we shouldn’t be okay with.

We literally had the lineup of Buggs, Dru Smith, Javon Pickett, Kobe Brown and Mitchell Smith in a do or die tournament game with around 2:40 seconds left in the game.

A fricking water boy at the junior high age range helping the high school boys basketball team would have more understanding of who should be on the floor in that situation then the HC that takes 3 million dollars from us annually.

I would have argued against the criticisms of Gabe here before this season. I've always found him to be the most consistently grounded of the MU press corps.
However, he seems to have jumped on the Cuonzo bandwagon this season. The reporters seem to really like the weekly philosophy class with Professor Martin.

Here, he is just stating a fact. Martin got himself a contract that makes it really hard for MU to fire him. Good for him, bad for MU fans looking for reasons to believe things will get better.

Turn to the PD if you need to see the true fan-boy level reporting.

LINK

Unbelievable, watch this wasted season and waste of talent and lack of development or outright regression shown by this team (other than Tilmon and D Smith) and then come to the conclusion this is a good path????

Thinking his true agenda is to make SLU look better and he knows that will be easier if MU continues to slowly regress.

Unless winning becomes the goal, CM should stay on as HC.

Matter, Gabe...all the Mizzou media for that matter are “woke”

That’s why they like Cuonzo and defend him at every turn.

It’s that simple. None of them are dumb enough to think that entering another rebuild in year 5 and having the high water mark be a .500 SEC team with a first round exit is good.
