It's time to make the thread official.

Eli's seat is officially hot.

Mizzou is not a program that can just flip coaches. It destabilizes even great programs. Drink found a hell of a DC, now its time for an OC.

Unless we have Hugh Freeze all lined up. Then I'm on board.

We can't flip coaches for no reason. We sure as hell can flip coaches when you hit the point you know they won't get it done.

If a coach can't point to ANY signs of improvement after 3 years, any AD is completely justified in the firing and nobody will bat an eye about it.

Eli is a good HC. He recruits, he's enthusiastic about his team and seems to have good relationships with players. He just needs to let an OC do the job of an OC.

No he's not and shouldn't. But if he only wins four and half his roster hits the portal he's a walking dead man.

Good relationship with players as in players sitting out spring game to preserve their bodies, kicker not warming up? I guess he has these players buying in to the swagger, but it’s non existent on the field. Need to empty the bench on offensive side. Burden will get double teamed all season, yet we have a QB that as of yet cannot read his progressions and doesn’t even look at wide open receivers. Bad situation compounded by poor coaching, going to be a rough year and Drinkwitz should absolutely be on the hot seat, BUT, he can be salvageable if he shows he can make an adjustment. I don’t want to go through another new coach situation. It’s painful to learn on the job but that is exactly what we have as HBC right now.

He'll get next year. But what scares me: Do I want the incompetent boobs of this administration picking another coach? Do I trust Mun Choi and his cabal of goofballs and woke arse fckups to get this right?

No. I don't.

The bottom line is that he isn't it and won't be it next year or the year after.

He was the perfect coach for App State and that's where he should have stayed.

No, the bottom line is that you or me or anybody else on this board do not know that.

Imagine how fricking dumb it is to want the best recruiter in program history fired 4 games into his third year. I just can’t even wrap my head around the amount of dipshittery it takes to reach that point.

Yeah. I agree with that. We don’t know what the ceiling is for Drinkwitz.

He could be our next Pinkel. He could be the next Mark Stoops. We should give him the opportunity to show that. I would honestly give him two years beyond this.

He’s recruiting as good as anyone else we would bring in, so it’s not like a Cuonzo situation where every year is a deeper hole for the next coach to dig out from a talent perspective.

I want to be absolutely sure he’s not the guy before we pull the trigger.

You really have to see where it goes with Horn. I hate to lay everything on him, but if Drink can keep the team together and pushing, keep bringing in talent it all sets up rather nicely.

I don’t think Cook is nearly as bad as most seemingly do, but his ceiling just isn’t that high. He does not have near the arm talent that Horn has.

Everyone should be willing to allow him the opportunity to bring along Horn as he sees fit. It will be sooner rather than later in any event. If there aren’t serious upward signs when his elite QB recruit is playing and his top recruits are in their second and third years then yeah, it becomes a legitimate discussion to start having…but not now.

There is another dual threat quarterback from HS. He might get a shot too next year. so it all depends on if this year is just a washup to prepare for next year with the next quarterback to take over and the offensive linemen will be much better. This is what I am seeing so far. Next year will be the key to make or break for the offense and get the team to play much better overall.

It was brutal watching the game yesterday, but I agree. It’s still too early to make a call to fire the HC. Odom left a total dumpster fire. It takes much longer in football and one or two year guys are not going to provide massive turn around even with the stellar recruiting. Those guys are still too new. I want to see Horn starting next year with Burden, Lovett, etc.

This is all just complete bullshite. He has the WRONG relationships with his players. He is their buddy, not their coach. A coach would hold his players accountable and provide discipline when they make stupid decisions.

You think this but do not KNOW it unless you are in or super close to the program.

Correct. People always think they know what’s going on when they have zero idea.

I know it because I watch the games. Every bad choice by a player results in a head shake from Drink and that is it. None of the players are being held accountable. The closest we have to that was pulling a player for fumbling punt returns.
