spot on as always. Intangibles are a real thing. You probably don't know much about that though.

Mizzou as a team is 0.26 in +/-

Jordan Geist is 0.23.

Our starting point guard is below our team average in +/-.

Tell me more about intangibles.

Geist is actually one of our best players this year. 49% from the field and 41% from 3. 1.6 turnovers per 21 minutes.

He seems horrible because our memory selectively remembers him basically single handedly losing the WV with his late game turnovers.

As much as it pains me to say it because of the way I and we perceive him, he’s been well above average in his role this year compared to where he is talent wise.

No, he’s not. 1.6 TOs per 20 mins isn’t a stat you want for your PG. Especially when they’re only averaging 2.6 AST/gm. He played nearly 35 minutes tonight and had 3 assists.

I said for his talent level and what we expected of him when he arrived here, he’s done exceptionally well and probably better than we all had expected.

He’s the best PG we have on the roster outside of Philips but it seems he’s regressed.

I know I'm in the minority but I like Geist. Yep he makes mistakes but doesn't mope around like a little bitch like Phillips does.....and has done for 2 years.

Intangibles are hitting 2 free throws with 14 seconds to play. He doesn't rack up assists because he doesn't break down a defense. That's okay. He controls the game and for the most part makes sound decisions.
Nobody mentions the fact that despite not getting the shot we wanted Geist shot attempt at ARKY literally went in and out to win the game. Your a joke as always though. Keep rooting against us.

Geist is fine. He’s not going to win Mizzou many games. PG is obviously the weakest position in the rotation. It’s hard to go far in the NCAA tournament without good PG play, no one on the roster is going to provide that.
We might be able to get around that if MPJ comes back healthy.

arse chapped seanie. Sorry you were wrong about Kim. It happens. You’ll be able to let that go eventually. Or not. Whatever.

All good, Kim was fine as a coach IMO. Recruiting is what killed him and honestly never really had a fair sales pitch to begin with.

Geist is Missouri football. He makes obvious plays pretty well and can hit the three and will make you look good against inferior opponents. He has ZERO point guard intuition to his game. Phillips has it and in terms of passing the basketball, from what I've seen last year, Van Leer has it more than Geist. Back to the football analogy when the defense toughens up and you have to put the ball where the receiver is going to be and not where he is...Geist becomes a huge liability and Phillips is the better choicee... a la WVU, Illinois, UCF. Or Stephen F Austin where Phillips didn't play more, but Geist became a liability and only play 19 minutes

Martin obviously disagrees with you about Phillips.

That said, I don't know why Phillips has not risen to the occasion and claimed the PG minutes.

About Geist. He was not recruited to play point guard. I have not read anywhere that he went to the coaches and begged to play point guard. He is doing what his coaches are asking of him.

I think he is doing a good job of making the most of what talent he has. I also think our point guard situation is a big liability against any good team that can apply heavy pressure on our ballhandlers, which will only hurt us as we move into postseason play.

My other question - What is Martin supposed to do? Phillips is not exactly making Martin look dumb when he does get out on the floor.
Giving more PG time to Robertson is not a great solution. To use your football analogies - that would be as ill advised as it was to play McGovern at tackle instead of letting him be an all-conference, all-american? guard.

However, I would like to see Robertson handle the ball more in the final couple minutes of close games.

He was originally recruited to play small forward but once practice came around Kim Anderson realized he wasn't tall enough.

Geist was never recruited to play small forward. He was a combo guard in juco. That’s his position here.
