I've heard for some time (and from Gabe recently) that the 2019 team is going to be "worse" than this year's team. Is it mainly because of losing Lock, and/or are we that shallow in depth and recruits across the board?

Also, a friend, who is a heavy donor and insider, says Odom...who he describes as an "arrogant a-hole"...won't be here in 2019 with 6 wins (even with a bowl win)...and he's in grave danger even with 7-wins.

Your thoughts?

Yes 2019 is probably going to be worse. Mizzou losses it’s best players on both sides of the ball in Lock and TBJ.

It’s possible that the defense will be really good that year though, as TBJ, Hall and Lee might be the only seniors to start on defense this season.

I believe this team is more than capable of winning 8 this season. If he gets 7 and a bowl loss I would axe him.

This team should be one of the top offenses in the conference. If you can't win 8 you have real issues.

6 wins or less with even a bowl win...cut him fast IMHO.

7 wins and a bowl win...they'll probably keep him. Bowl loss???

I'd look at HCBO's class recruiting rankings past and present also.

Sterk can't afford all the empty seats. Pretty simple for HCBO (any coach), win and but some butts in those seats.

We are near the bottom of D1 schools with only 4 verbal commits up to this point. Some in the media tend to think that's what other schools are telling recruits is that Odom and his staff are on the hot seat. Plus, there are rumors that ol recruit Jack Buford might start taking some visits.(I can't confirm this)

Here is what departs offensively after the 2018 season:

QB, RT, LG, Both outside WRs, and the punter.

You get both RBs and the starting TE back to go with a QB than can run the read option. Landing Massey and Washington are musts in this class IMO because Ballard is the only guy that looks the part on the outside once Hall is gone.

Defensive departures:

Starting 3Tech, WLB, SLB, and FS.

Beckner will be tough to replace but Haley several pieces to move around in that spot. I don't think there will be any drop off at WLB with Miller taking primary snaps. There are several underclassmen than can play SLB.

I just don't know how we will ever overcome having to replace Cam Hilton though.

Guys, are we really having the "What it takes to get BO fired" discussion already? We have a Heisman candidate and 1st round QB. A 1st round D Tackle and 2 running backs that if they played for UGA would be getting alot more attention. can we at least focus on those things before we go back to the "Firing Bo" watch?

Along with an elite deep threat, a top TE and a couple of Olinemen that will at worst get NFL camp invites.

And no defensive scheme change.

It’s possible that the 2019 starters on the DL will all have been 4 star recruits.
Williams and Parker at DE
Elliot and Byers at DT

That’s never happened at Mizzou. With Miller and Garrett behind that DL the front 7 should be really good in 2019.

Mizzou fans are much more interested in wallowing in how bad we are going to be and when we can fire our coach then thinking of anything with any positivity.

It is what it is. Our fans hate Odom for some reason.

I've met him several times. He's never came across as arrogant or an a-hole to me. Confident sure.

Too most fans it comes down to Wins and losses.

Not endless MB over hype each and every preseason.

This is year three and there are no more excuses for mediocrity or substandard play or coaching.

Beat the teams you should beat should be a gimme at this point.

I actually see more talent on the team then I do the coaching staff.

As most agree Dooley is a question mark at OC.

Hope what I'm hearing is accurate that there will be no major scheme changes for the D. Agree with those that think our D line has tons of upside.

At times BO has appeared clueless at post game interviews his first two years.. This has been widely reported in the media and discussed on MB's etc... Hopefully he shows real signs of growth this year as a HC.

Win and the stands will be filled... Don't win and they'll be empty. Simple shite right? You act like this is solely an MIZZOU fan problem.... There are too many other things to spend money on now a days then a meh team spinning it's wheels.

This has nothing to do with hating poor BO.. It goes back to the simple things like winning and having a competent coaching staff that can recruit, coach and regularly win.

Lock has the skills to shine this year.. Here's hoping Dooley works out at OC.

Like every other year I'm looking forward to MIZZOU hitting the field. Hoping that BO silences me and the rest who haven't seen much from him his first two years that says he's a valid HC.

Not worrying about 2019 until after this season

So good luck BO and MIZZOU

I think Odom is so intense and driven that he has little to no people skills and rubs people the wrong way. It's written over everything he does from Kuligowski e-mailing his playbook when leaving to Huepel and his lackey not giving him the time of day on the way out the door to his shutting out the media tyring to give his team valuable coverage.

He finally wised up enough meet with coaches and opinion shpaers within the St. Louis AA community to try to garner some support instead of letting everyone and their brother poach his backyard.

Bottom line is I think he's too intense for his own good. He's a position coach / coordinator masquerading as a Head Coach until he recognizes and embraces the part of his job that includes schmoozing the donors, media, local coaches and power people.

Do not forget the bad exposure that Missouri got in the last few years that have hurt Missouri in recruiting. So far this year is the healthiest Missouri have been and there is no bad exposure. Only issue is getting fans to go to the games! That is what other SEC schools been talking about. Lack of fans going to the games. Go to the games and that will attract recruits and get players and coaches to perform better as well. Positive atmosphere is what Missouri need right now and not to blow it this year.

Even if the St. Louis Cardinals are having a bad year they will still draw more than 25,000 fans a game. This is a down year and they will still average over 35,000. They have 81 home games, so how is this possible for them and it is hard for Mizzou to average over 55,000 a game in just 7 home games.

It is the marketing and PR department not just for the sports program, but for the entire university. In southwest Missouri there is almost nothing about Mizzou. It’s hard to find games on radio outside of few AM stations.

This is football country with Webb City and Carl Junction two of the top football teams in 4A. Webb City has 14 state championships and ranked many years in the top 100 football programs in the country. Lamar is the top 2A school in the state for over 7 years. People here love football and have almost no representation of the Mizzou program. These people would go to Mizzou’s home games.

They even have weekly football classes for women who don’t understand and know the rules of football. They usually have well over two hundred people at kindergarten and 1st grade flag football games(4 a night= 800 people). Most are not related to the kids, but come to watch their future high school players.

It’s just not just St. Louis and KC, Mizzou needs loyal fans from all over the state.
