So do we just call tomorrow the Crimson Wedding?

Knott ----> Bama
Lashley ----> Bama
Raekwon ----> Bama

AJ------> Bama
Simmons--> Bama
Jones----->Bama

Can someone put Nick's face on this with Mullen?

the Red Elephant Club sends their regards.

Hey Guys! I've been out of the loop on recruiting this year, so I thought I'd checkin and see how things are going. I remember Paul Jones saying a few years back that good recruiting usually has a year lag behind good seasons, meaning the immediate season doesn't have as big impact on the current recruiting year so much as the previous season, the year the recruits were juniors. With that, I know we were #1 for 5 weeks and went to the friggin Orange Bowl while these current crop of kids were juniors!

Also last I checked we were in the top 5 for this class, so I'm grabbing my popcorn and .. OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED.

Maybe Dan has finally checked out. He's thrown his panties at several other schools the past few years and no one picked them up. Now he's just decided to hit the cruise til he gets canned and lands a nice OC gig somewhere.

It is time for Scott to put this to rest and explain to Dan that he should take all his shite with him to his next interview, period.

Mullen has done a good job but is now putting out a perception that is hurting, and at the compensation level he is recieveing this is intolerable. This is just plain business and would never be tolerated anywhere else.

JMHO regardless of who signs

I will hold off passing judgment for now until we see how tomorrow turns out. Saban/Bama just won another NC 80 miles away and they show up telling these 18 year olds how great they are and how bad they need them. It would be hard not to get hooked by that sales pitch at that age. Of course the reality is once their name is on the dotted line they'll just be another number on the depth chart, but it is what it is. Hopefully we see some guys who want to step up and be leaders and buck the system tomorrow like we did last year. Like I said, I'll just wait and see.

Regardless of how the remaining prospects go I will feel the same. Neither players recruits nor staff will ever feel stable about this until the nonsense stops. It is never a good thing to make your current employer feel like your fall back plan, esp. when you are making a bit over 4 million a year, this is a lack of professional decorum plain and simple.

No business will tolerate this nonsense from employees,, certainly not someone in a management role. An interview for a promotion is one thing, throwing your name out there for lateral vacancies constantly will get you shown to the door with quickness.

To be fair, you're still making the assumption that he "threw his name out there".

Sure, he didn't shoot the rumors down, but you can't do that. Because then you're expected to comment on every single opening you're ever mentioned for. It's our own fanbase's fault for not knowing better. Do you really think he's worth 5 million or more a year to anyone but us? He isn't proven anywhere else. The same goes for Freeze at Ole Miss. These coaches are valuable to us because they have proven they can win here, that statement doesn't hold true for any other school interested in them.

We are in the SEC West. We can afford to keep our coach. We will have to shove him out if we ever want him gone. It's time for people to realize it and stop worrying that someone is constantly going to take what we have. If we keep yelling that the sky is falling, eventually we bring it down ourselves.

In the giant shitstorm that is likely to take place tomorrow, I'm really gonna feel bad for the kids that actually are signing with us. They all seem enthusiastic to come play in Starkville, but they're likely gonna see a lot of posts from fans dogging their perceived talent.

This is the beginning of the end for Dan. No amount of "coaching them up" can save this heaping pile of shite of a class. 3 years from now we will look back to this class and point to it being the reason that Dan got fired.

Pretty much, yeah. The answer to why we've plateaued has been slapping Dan in the face the past two seasons - we don't have the talent or depth of talent to make it to #1 in the West. It's so dumb when people reference us as a "developmental program" and then point to the 2/3 stars we've sent to the league. Yeah, those guys made it, but there wasn't nearly enough of them to make a real difference on the team.

Maybe the reason we seem to develop more "diamonds" is cause we shuffle through a much larger volume of the lower rated guys than the Bama's of the world.

Ehhhh. It could be the reason for a one year slump, but it's far too small of a class, and right off of a really strong class last year, to be that earth shattering. Realistically it's at the most a 20 man class, right now they are all 3 stars. There isn't anyone incredibly shitty, we are just going to miss the few high spots.

This is getting blown a little out of proportion. At worst it isn't as bad as the 2012 class. The biggest problem is perception and opportunity cost. This could have been a stellar small class for us had we gotten the guys we should have.

The NCAA should weight this shite to even the scales a little. Scholarships up to a total star value.

"You guys enjoy those 6 five stars. We are going to take these 30 one star kids and see which ones pan out."

Supposedly Knott is rethinking things and requested us to send him papers tomorrow.

If all of this turned around I would probably get equally as drunk as if it continued as is. Might drink better liquor though.

This is a good point. Regardless of how everything shakes out, the guys who sign will be our guys for the next 4-5 years and in supporting them I'm not going to get hung up on where a recruiting service ranks them as teenagers, I'm proud to have them and will give them my support. Maybe I'm too old to follow recruiting or watched Rudy too many times, but reading stuff like this from a preferred walk on gets me excited more so than a bunch of signing day drama. I want the big names too but if they don't want what MSU has to offer then leave them in the rear view mirror and move on.

Ensworth (Tenn.) High School's Blake Mitchell has followed Mississippi State's football program the past few years and often wondered what it would be like to play for the Bulldogs. The 2016 offensive lineman will get to make that dream a reality next season after accepting a preferred walkon spot at Mississippi State.

quote:

"I've been over there a lot and I've taken a few unofficials there," said Mitchell. "I actually started coming to Mississippi State games in the fifth grade. So I grew up knowing all about them and this weekend was awesome

Since the fifth grade I knew I wanted to play college football. Then the last few years I've had my mind set on the SEC and Mississippi State. So I came to some games to get a feel for it. Now my dream is going to come true and I get to play for Mississippi State."

There's no assumption, he was halfway out the door until another coach got fired. He didn't do shite for a month and it killed us. frick Dan!
