I was really worried about this game. The personal foul on the punt and then the big play right after Sealed the fate today.
Just terrible all the way around this team today the defense acted like they were afraid to tackle somebody. The O line was garbage and the Charlotte game was eye opening because that is the team unfortunately that florida truly is.
Going to be a long rest of the way. May beat vandy and uscE the rest of the schedule is tough to say Florida will win

And Arkansas and SC get the week off prior to us. Probably close to zero chance we win both of those games.

I fully expect Napier to still be the head coach next year but it should not be an option to let him continue as the playcaller/OC. To tell you the truth, I don't think he's some kick arse CEO type either but I'm resigned to the fact that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Guys Napier is not going anywhere. There were some things that could have changed this game by no means am I saying florida wins if these things changed but to put it all on Napier is wrong.
For the defense they looked deathly afraid to tackle somebody. On the first series of the game after Mertz is sacked 3rd and 13 they give to Johnson he hits the runs for 20 yards first down it comes back on a holding penalty where Johnson gets past without the hold.
Every week there is a special team disaster and just like clock work a personal foul penalty on a punt deep in Kentucky territory you get great field position and they get the ball back then hit a big play up 17 its over.
This team can not play from behind if they get behind 10 to 14 points it's over Florida is not coming back.
It's obvious Napier needs to do away with the 2 o line coaches make sale the O line coaches get rid of the other guy bring in a True OC & S.T.Coach and let them do there job!!!!
There are still games with improvement they can win.

If we go 5-7/6-6 Napier will have a warm seat going into next season especially with this incompetence with game management which is worse than a high school coach. If it continues year 3 with another mediocre 6-6/7-5 record he 100% needs to go no matter the payout. My guess is his view on offense is rubbing off on Mertz and is why when we need to score quickly we are still throwing checkdowns instead of throwing down the field much.

The changes or lack thereof this off-season will make or break Billy in year 3. The roster will be better.

Alright, here we go. First, I have been a Gator my whole life, never wavered, thru good or bad time, in all kind of weather, right! I like Billy Napier, my unspoken concern when he was hired was that the stage was too big for him. Can he grow into the Coach we hope, maybe. His biggest problem IMO is that he seems to be set in his process based on success at ULL. He recruits well, he is a good person with good values that are needed at UF. As long as he is the head coach at UF, I will support him, but he must be guided to make changes that we all see are needed. He needs to hire a proven OC to run the offense and he needs to hire a ST coach. Without doing this he will fail. Any talk about firing him this year or even next year is just noise in the system, it ain’t happening. We are a young team that lacks talent and depth at some positions, recruiting can fix this. I am extremely disappointed in games like Saturday when it seems we are not prepared to play. Something else Napier needs to fix. So, I’m not giving up on Napier or the team, but we need to continue to voice the need for change until someone makes it happen. Go Gators!

You guys are dreaming if you don't think Napier will be fired for another mediocre season in 2024 if we don't have a turnaround this season. 3 straight seasons like that are only acceptable at the lower rung SEC schools not expected to compete for championships like Ole Miss, KY, Vandy and Miss State etc. Incompetence at that level hasn't been allowed at any competitive SEC school in the modern era.

Who is saying he would survive 2024 with another mediocre season?

Also, can I just say it's sad that we have to come to an lsu board to find a decent Gator board that doesn't restrict your posting because you're calling a spade a spade in the offense?

Half the posters here have said he should get a 4th year no matter if he is going 6-6/7-5 in his first 3 seasons.

I think a lot of fans felt this team would be inconsistent due to youth, and a young staff, but man, these last couple of road performances (Vandy in 2021, Utah and yesterday) are very concerning.
With a young team I don't expect to win all of those yet, but we've looked completely lost. That is all on Napier. He needs to figure out how to be competitive on the road and get these guys to play with fire because that was an inexcusable performance.
I think even if we played with some fire we might've lost. Kentucky is stronger in the trenches and Davis is a good rb.
But the mistakes, the special teams snafus, the plodding offense (especially when we moved the ball well to open the second half with a faster tempo), a lot of these issues are concerning, even though I think many of us expected some bumps in the road. These are mattress sized potholes.
Napier is trying to do too much at once imo. Off-the-field he has his finger on the pulse. But on gameday it's overwhelming him. I don't know if he's good enough to make even if he does delegate a bit, but he's definitely not going to make it in the long rung if he tries to keep doing it like this.

We have to hope a decent play caller with a more attacking offense is willing to come here and Napier is willing to allow that style. If not I think he is getting that huge payoff to leave at the end of 2024 and be will be forever branded Sunbelt Billy even by Florida fans.

I know this has been said 100000x times already, but our Game Changer specialist, Chris Couch, has really changed the game on the road for us twice this year, both in the first half of the game: too many men on a punt vs Utah and the stupid jumping penalty yesterday. Both of those games were still in hand until those penalties gave the ball back to the opposing offense and led to a score.

It’s sad that if we go down by 10-14 early, I know Florida is done lol

So have y'all seen the schedule for next year? If you haven't just don't go look.
