I'm not sorry that I'd like to see a competent offense like 100% of football fans. It's year 2. The 60-80s is ancient history. You can accept mediocrity I'm not and that doesn't make me a bandwagon. So your happy our mvp right now is a kicker. Mac has a lot of work to do. The offense in 09 struggled in several games and looked disjointed. We aren't going to blowout UK. A 16-7 type game is what I expect and I'll be here regardless

UF will score 30 on UK. I feel pretty good about that.

I wish we could go back to the '00s where we could hang 63 on a team and look good doing it.

In all fairness Straw last year we had one of the best defenses in the country which had an anchor tied to its azz with inept offense.

I'm not gonna turn this into a bash fest, but Muschamp never had an offense as bad as last year. Literally four freshmen in rotation, no receivers to be found, a WR essentially playing QB for the entire year and no depth at running back without a kicker.

You can have stout defenses, but in the modern game you have to score points, period. Mac did more with way, way less. It's not just the personnel on the field, but in the recruiting. He did everything for the defense, and we had jack dick nothing on offense.

Mac probably needs one more solid year before we can be an elite team again, although he got the job done last year.

I remember when people said that Meyer left us bare without talent, and then I saw what we had with Muschamp when he left and I have to tell you: We didn't have anything on offense.

Literally, there were probably FCS teams that had better offensive production than us because, well, Muschamp never bothered to recruit that side of the ball.

You have to admit at some point, that he's had little time to fix a big mess. The offense won't look like an offense if you don't have a quarterback, and JDR has literally had ONE college football game where he started. You have to give them time to get to know each other, and, you have to account for the weather. Monsoon season isn't the best time to chuck the ball around and look better.

Even if we lose more games, I don't feel too bad. We've got growing pains, we're not the Florida of yesteryear and we've got to temper our expectations.

He is definitely taking the team in the right direction.

We're at least 3 years from that.

Which sucks. But is true.

Try to keep this perspective. If Grier wasn't an idiot, we probably would have looked better Saturday night. His incident probably set Mac back a half season. We're not good enough to just plug in a new QB and win championships like Bama does. Mac is having to "start over" all because of Grier.

Grier doesn't fix all the OL issues though.

And he really only had 1 great game vs. Ole Miss and 1 great quarter vs. Tennessee.

We really don't know what would've happened.

Grier was special, he just has natural ability and I doubt we've seen the last of him.

That being said, he was way better than Treon, and we would have at the very least been competitive. When you don't have a QB it's tough, not having any functional part of an offense is harder.

I don't think we've had that bad of a QB rotation for a long time.

But, I think Mac could have also made Driskel have an explosive final year. A lot of what ifs, but the fact of the matter is: Losing Grier hurt.

This. I really do feel like this is the root cause for our slow start (even though it's the first game). I say give it 2 more weeks, and if nothing has changed or if it's worse, we gather our pitchforks. but I really feel like we'll have a decent season. I don't see why we can't win 10 games again this year. I think we're gonna be just fine.

I'm not concerned about QB, RB, or WR play right now. Defensively we should be stacked but if injuries mount we could be in trouble... and having Pinero instead of Hardin should double our point production from last year alone.

But I'm VERY concerned about the O-Line. We gave up a D1-worst 45 fricking sacks last year and in week 1 we got abused by one of the worst teams in D1. Spin it however you want but that is a BAD sign.... reminds me a LOT of our team the past few seasons. What happened to the Florida teams that put up 55 points by the end of the 3rd quarter on these phony D1 teams?

24 points against UMass

I think this is what gets me the most and it's never looked at..We had to payout all the coaches we fired, buy out Mac's contract, pay him his salary, pay for his new staff, and upgraded our facilities. It was like a $20 million summer.

Right now, I'm worried about buyers remorse if we get another 3 years of lack luster everything. Where's the wow factor?

I cant help but lol at some of you guys.

Starting QB,2RBs and a few WRs making their first start in this offense in the rain and you expected the greatest show on turf???

Still adding to the Oline as well

Cmon guys, give em at least a few games before you go all LSU on em.

In 2008, that great team only scored 14 offensive points against Hawaii at half.
They only scored 7 through 3 quarters against Miami, and they scratched out 23 against a UT team that wouldn't even go to a bowl game.

And that was with the returning heisman winner, Percy Harvin, Lewis Murphy and the Pouncey's.

Just some context.

All three of those teams would've destroyed UMass. Lol at making any comparison to that team and this one. Keep spinning.

This team is by no means the 2008 team.

But it was a monsoon for most of the game, plus a guy making his first career start, and missing 6 contributing players due to suspension or getting hurt early in the game.

The quarterback play is way better than last year, the kicking game is way better than last year, and the defense is at the very worst equal to last years. I'm not worried about the UMASS game. Now, if the offense put up 24 or less against Kentucky this weekend or we lose, I'll be very concerned.

But I'm on board right now with this team and where they're going. This is a team that I think still can and will go 11-1 or 10-2 this season. I'm excited about seeing them grow.

I gotta laugh, no sense trying to change some folks minds. Straw....you and I actually agree...my point was we had a very stout defense last year and indeed Mac made lemondae out of sewer water on offense. You dont and wont see me calling for Mac's head...thats insanity.

Lets try to use logic here (I know I know)...we threw the ball 49 times in a storm and only ran the ball 29 times and it was by design...Mac and his staff knew our defense could/would stop UMass....it was an actual scrimmage if you look at it the right way. He needed Del Rio to get timing down in an actual game.

This saturday I look for the pass/run numbers to flip and we will give our RBs the chance to show what they have. It may be a 27-10 type game and it will insufferable here on this board. Against North Texas we might unleash the full monty? The only number I care about is 2-0...but some want style points. If you want style...go to Fifth Av Gucci's (I used to work there in the 1960s for a while)

I love hard nose pads a popping football. A solid behind the lines pop ala Brandon Spikes vs Moreno is just as fun as a 65 yd TD run....almost.

I remember that play very well.

I knew after that play, UGA was fricked.

I will just be happy with a W against an SEC opponent.
