Little rant
Anybody that dogs Williams-Brice for being in an "industrial" area can suck it.
Went to Auburn/LSU yesterday. Had to park 1.4 miles from stadium, 20 bucks also. Not far but that's like parking at the softball stadium for WB.
I had to laugh at all the carts people pulled from who knows where to some small grass area with about 20 tents. Everybody was spread out. No sense of our mass tailgating experience.
We are really spoiled with what we have and kudos to the planners of all the improvements for keeping our awesome tailgating environment.

I went to our Auburn game at Auburn that was back during Spurrier’s 1st season. It was a looong walk from our parking spot to the stadium.

The funny thing I noticed there was the obvious class system for parking the closer one got to the stadium. Those Alabama people are big on making a full weekend of the game at both Auburn and Alabama and you can tell the haves and have nots by how close one parks to the stadium - a stone throw from stadium is the Diesel engine $400k RV buses with 60” HD TV on the side of the buses. A little further out are the gas engine RV’s with the white panel sides and then further out some pickup truck campers; and it goes down from there until you’re even further out than we visiting fans parked and you’ve got Aubies in a tent with a bonfire.

I’ve been to a lot of away games and I’ve never seen the RV/campsite thing like they have at Auburn.

I never saw a RV close to stadium. Corporations have taken over a huge area on east side of stadium which sucks for real fans. The tailgate setup companies are making bank.
We have a much better setup.

Our tailgating allows to get rowdy. I mean rowdy. When we went to Auburn in 2010, those people looked at us like we were crazy.

Yeah, we were at the 2010 game too ... with another couple I served with, Auburn alumni ... was the top ROTC graduate in the country. They're big boosters, we sat on the 50 yard line maybe 25 rows up behind the Auburn bench.

We still had to park way down the street, main street I think it was, next to some railroad tracks.

It's completely different tailgating there than most places, but their fans were nice ... except for a couple of drunks walking past us at the railroad tracks.

I wouldn't trade W-B for any other setup I've seen in the SEC. It allows for a significant tailgate culture, but it also keeps campus pristine. I've seen, firsthand, what UGA does to its campus, and it's horrendous. At USC, if you wanted to ignore that there was a college football game and study for finals or grab lunch at Russell House, you could without being bothered. That's a blessing, not a detraction.

I like our setup, too. I saw a rendering one time that had WBS in the location of the Blatt. It was pretty crazy, as they had traffic maps, all sorts of stuff drawn out. People were tailgating on the Horseshoe and in front of Thomas Cooper. Wheat Street was closed to thru traffic, and people were tailgating all over the place. Seemed like chaos. I will see if I can find it and link it.

It's great unles syou are a visiting fan. Last time I went, I tailgated with a cock friend and it was a great experience (pre-game). But if you don't know somebody with a spot in that premium setup, it's not a great tailgate. It's similar to what yall are describing at Auburn.

Regarding RV's, UGA has them too, multiple RV lots where people spend the weekend, as described above in Auburn et al.. They are on the East edge of campus. Easy to miss them if you come from the North (downtown). You would never see them.

I'd be pissed if there were ever tailgating on the Horsehoe.

I like our setup. USC will continue to purchase surrounding property. One day, it will no longer be an industrial area but part of the university.
This was the plan all along.

WhIle it's been several years since I've attended a game at Willy-B (2015), my parents had season tickets for years. We have a good setup that's only getting better.

I have several buddies that have season tickets to the University of Utah. While the over all scene is nowhere near what ours is, they do have one very cool feature. They have a light rail station that stops at the stadium. It was put in with the 2002 olympics.

Off campus usually means better traffic flow

On campus usually means more congestion

Worst was the old Freedom Hall in Louisville with only 1 road in and terrible congestion.

I could see this. The condos around the area are really nice, and there is more student housing down that way than there was 10 years ago.

So you're saying we need to get the Olympics to Columbia and we'll get Public Transportation?

Haha. No. It's just a nice amenity for the folks going to/from the game. My buddies that have used that option say it makes it nice going, but there are usually long lines after the game.

However, there are a couple of spurs that parallel the Cockabose railroad that could be retrofitted for light rail.
