Man I hope not. Not trying to sound selfish but the house in Edisto can’t take another hit, especially 3 years in a row. Hopefully it turns north and misses everyone.

As someone who lives in Pawleys, I hope this model is wrong. Praying it kicks north away from land

Great just what I need. Was going to my house in Cherry Grove for next few weeks and it looks like I have a few storms to deal with.

Seriously. Mama Nature misunderstood South Cack. We said a SANDSTORM was building. Not a damn HURRICANE.

State of emergency issued for the state of South Carolina not too long ago.

I'm packing a bag to head to the coast if it comes our way.

They must be extremely confident in their models if they are already declaring a SoE?

Do they usually issue those a week from potential landfall?

They're saying landfall Tuesday or Wednesday now. Florence is a typical female. Can't make her mind up.

And yeah, all of the models are pretty much in agreement now. Expected to be a major hurricane when it makes landfall, as well.

Bread & water will be gone soon. Gas will be gone. 5 mile long lines in Wally World. You know how we do.

If it runs South we could have some issues. Time to load up on propane and beer.

Late Tuesday or Wednesday is what they're saying now. The next model run by the NHC will give a little better idea.

I know I’m a dirty tater by way of CofC, but my field background, occupation, and current research efforts afford me the opportunity to model several different aspects of coastal issues with respect to flooding, geomorphology, and impact assessments.

If any of y’all on the coast have any questions about what may happen in certain scenarios fire away.

I’ll do what I can with the info that gets passed through my emails and on the desk.

Stay safe guys, we’re all South Carolinians in the end.

Two Gray Man sightings in the past two days. One on the Pawleys Island pier and one on the beach. Both seen by tourists who knew nothing of the legend but were sufficiently freaked out to take pics. I'll see if I can get the pics to upload. Having issues with tinypic for some reason.

ETA: Are y'all even familiar with the legend behind the "Gray Man?"

Stay the hell away from the Florida west coast. Last years Irma knocked out power in my (and most) neighborhoods for five damn days. I stay awake at night when winds were howling like hell praying my neighbors neglected trees ( ) didn't fall on my house.

I work for a national restoration company that handles floods, fires, mold and biohazard cleanups. Even though I would make $$, don't want it. Been on the road for a lot of storms in 25 years. Too old for that now.

I'm putting together some crews to head to NC and VA ... big time potential if you are interested. We wrote over seven million just in Lumberton and Fayetteville alone a couple of years ago. The Michigan office is already mobilizing the entire outfit ... listen, we're about to be bigger than Balfour. If you're interested and you can put together a couple two or three big crews let me know. I've been on the phone all day giving notice to crews in SC and Georgia.

I will not necessarily be involved because I'm retired for the most part but I'll put you with the right guys, already licensed and ready to go in NC and VA with plenty of insurance residual contacts still in play after the Lumberton and Fayetteville floods. Everything from residential to commercial including a few high rise hotels along the coast already with contracts.

I've got a memorial I've got to attend Wednesday and then I've got to deal with some estate issues Thursday and Friday but I may try to drive up after it makes land fall and just check things out to see how things are going, make some good faith contacts with old friends up at State Farm in the area. If you think you can get some crews up this way I'll make sure y'all have all the work you can handle and put you on the right track with the right people before I head home.
