Strong is a name I haven't even thought about and considering he's an analyst at Bama, we could likely entice him.

I'm onboard with Napier at this point. I never read/saw anything that he turned down Arky and MSU because he was scared. I did read that he turned them down, particularly MSU, because he wanted our job whenever the inevitable happened. That was from one of their insiders.

Even if not Napier, if we're going for an Offensive coach, especially one that may be cutting teeth, go ahead and try to get Strong to hold down the D side of the ball.

Watch out for another name -Neal Brown at West Virginia. Right now it's looking like Napier or Beamer are the favorites, but this isn't over, a lot of interest being expressed from various coaches.

Born in Louisiana. Moved to SC as a 9 year old. Educated at both schools. Live in Cola. Wife is a Gamecock Alum.

Just making sure it wasn't those other Tigers.

I was supposed to go to LSU. Changed my mind in time to enroll at South Carolina instead. In the end the Garnet and Black in my blood won out over the out-of-state and away from home experience.

Still an LSU fan and they are easily my #2.

I wonder if it is Napier if we could pry Beamer from Oklahoma as OC. Beamer could easily springboard that into a HC job in a couple years.

Hell no. The only time I'll set foot on their campus for anything except our games at UF is for the graduation ceremony.

Neal Brown would be great I agree. He has cleaned up the mess that holgerson left.

Skip Holtz
148-110
1-0 vs ol Dat'boy
- 56 years old
- HC at 4 schools
- Offensive Coach
- Has coached at South Carolina/understands our culture
- Beat Ohio State in back to back bowl games as USC OC with Cory Jenkins & Dondrial Pinkins as his QBs
- was calling plays in his own spread offense while Lincoln Riley was going through puberty
- 8-3 in bowl games (won 6 straight)
- has not had 27 wins vacated by the NCAA
- his dad is also a HOF CFB coach, as does another of the candidates listed

...Lonnie I'm not serious about Skip I just wanted to remind everyone reading this search thread Skip beat ol Dat'boy in the Car Care Bowl.

but on a serious note -

Skip has had a very fine coaching career. What he did for ECU was miraculous. (ECU was in a 3-25 funk when Skip took the HC job). they've never really been as successful (even when Lincoln Riley was calling plays) since Skip left for USF.

Skip has also built a nice winning program in Ruston. Sonny Dykes cleaned up things a bit after Derek Dooley but Skip has really done well for Tech. He's won 9 games three times and 10 games once in his 7 seasons prior to 2020. 4-3 so far this year.

Also hope Lou is recovering from the virus. Holtz family helped Gamecock Football at a time we needed it most. Forever to Thee.

I don't want him, but I'm actually surprised he hasn't gotten a crack at one of the smaller P5 schools.

According to 247 Jeff Monken and Kevin Wilson are serious candidates now. I think I may legit stop being a fan

not related to monken -

any coach from the Upstate school that is being thrown around as a potential candidate is being done so as a PR stunt.

"we gave coach XYZ permission to interview with USC but coach XYZ realized just how great of a job he has here with us so he withdrew his name from USC's search"

Chadwell from Coastal is the ONLY current coach from a school in SC that should be named as a candidate. period.

Ray and Admin need only look at what RichRod did in 2015 to realize how 'perception = reality" and Pickens would absolutely use the opportunity to 'turn down' USC's job in order to promote it on the recruiting trail.

Not sure why all the love for Strong. We did that once upon a time and honestly I don’t want third and long Charlie strong back.

A DC with almost 10 years HC experience... what more could you want as an Offensive HC who doesn't want to mess with that side of the ball?
