Monken ain't happening. Don't worry.
I'm all about Naiper. THe more I find out about him, the more I like his background and philosophy.
Plus he beat Freeze head to head last year.

I was going to post a utube, but then remembered it's blocked for you.
He's got ties to the state. He played at Furman and worked for Dabo. He also worked for Nick Saban. He's one of a handful of coaches that have worked for both of those guys. Word is he had Saban's work ethic and Dabo's "folksy" anture (is that a + or a -? ) He's got a good offensive mind and is as good a talent evaluator as anybody. If we want to be real, that's the type of coach we need. We can't compete with Bama, UGA and Clemson for the top 5*'s (right now). We need a coach that can find us the Melvin Ingram, Kevin Harris, Deebo Sanders and Pharoh Cooper type players. (FWIW, I think that was one of Muschamp's strong points, but he couldn't translate it to Saturdays.)
Naiper turned down both Mississippi St and Arky last year, because he didn't want to run the gauntlet of the SEC-W. But the east is a different matter. Word is Naiper reached out to Tanner after our loss to Tennessee. So HE's got interest in us. If you want to build a program, you want a guy that wants to be there long term. Freeze would bolt and the next shiny nickel of a job that came open. Napier gives us that chance.

Also, honest question about this one.
Could you see him leaving for say LSU? If O ends up not working out anymore or getting fired because of these scandals?

That's actually a red flag for me. I don't want anyone that is worried about the job being "too hard."
Maybe he thinks building us up from where we are now is a better situation than trying to build MSU and Arkansas up from their 2019 selves. That's understandable. But hard pass on anyone that is worried about the schedule.

He's originally from Middle Tennessee. His ties to the south are closer to us than La.

I get that. I think what I heard was after he worked for Saban, he knew how the deck was stacked against anyone/everyone else in the west. While I don't gamble (anymore) in my mind it is no different than only playing blackjack in Vegas. It's the one game where, if you play perfectly (which nobody ever does), the odds are in your favor (and not in favor of the house). Why set yourself up for failure from the beginning? In the west, just to start, you're behind Bama, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M. In the east it's just UGA and UF and MAYBE Tennessee (I'd say we're closer to even with them).
So I'd say it's more of being an analytical mind than being worried about it being too hard. But I get your point and perspective.

Florida and Georgia are also pretty fricking good
Sure there’s no Bama
But the East isn’t a walk in the park anymore

Yeah, plus we have Clemson every year.
I'm not saying I expect Napier to come in and in Year 2 we should be running the division.
But I don't want someone with an attitude of "Hey look how good we are. We average 8wins a year! We split the UF-UGA games again!"
It wasn't that long ago when we were easily beating all 3. We can do it again, but not with someone that is scared of having to face tough opponents on a regular basis.

I say land Napier, bring back Charlie Strong as DC, reach out to Beamer to join as OC/RC. Freakin dream team.
