What does Roper make a year?
Posted on 11/27/17 at 7:59 am to I Bleed Garnet
Not sure. What I am sure about is that Tanner was willing to throw more $$ at the Coaches so whatever he was making, the new guy could make more.

Rumors are that Roper is being considered as the next HC at his Alma mater Rice.

For real?
This could work out for everyone.

They could be real or it could be a smokescreen floated out there to help the guy save face for his inevitable shitcanning

At this point it's all rumors but it is a possibility according to John Whittle over on TBS

That will never happen. Two big reasons why ...
1) He hates us, hates the way we fired Fat Bradstard and he's always made it personal.
2) He's recruited extremely negatively against us on the trail. Told lies, been militant about it to some degree even ... used terms like "will never win big there," "history of racism among boosters," "located in violent city," "does not take care of it's student athletes," "will treat you like a piece of meat," etc., etc., etc.

I'll never understand the sour grapes.
Brad Scott completely destroyed South Carolina football. He deserved to be fired.

Not sure Jake is the QB to fit his type of scheme though. Would probably be much better with Dak
Not sure why everyone is so focused on Dak but we will not be playing a true freshman who needs a lot of work with his passing skills.
Bentley is suffering the dreaded Sophomore jinx. Next season everyone will love him once again.
Jay Ulrich will be the heir apparent and he is very very good. He's worked hard on his passing skills this season and I honestly believe most fans are going to be blown away not only by his running but by his ability to throw the ball.
In the meantime Bentley has learned some valuable lessons this season.

Yeah, I'm already afraid for Dak because people are always placing so many expectations on him. I think he'll play next year in some select packages though.
Do you think he'll end up switching positions?

He'll go the way of Nunez if so. The ONLY and I do mean ONLY reason we got him was because we recruited him to play QB. Thats it.

I was talking about from a pure Spread No Huddle standpoint.
If we went after a guy like Clemson's OC, I don't think Jake is the right fit for that offense.
and I'm not saying we are going after Clemson's OC, I mean a guy that runs a similar scheme.

I know, but there's a bit of psychology involved in simply making the offer....

Roper makes $750k per year.
Also, I doubt that Dak Joyner takes a redshirt year. We will have some packages for him to get in the game and mix it up.

Why not just make Bryan McClendon the OC? He is already "co-OC".
Posted on 11/27/17 at 9:05 am to GetCocky11
Promote McClendon, make Bobby B the new Co-OC. Hire KJ Henry's dad to be the new RB coach.

rumors swirling offensive coordinator Kurt Roper has been encouraged to find another job and that Will Muschamp is being as respectful as possible with the situation.

He's just a kid lashing out. Tell him to come on home. He can reverse course on the recruiting trail, and maybe Tanner or Muschamp can promise him a school car for life. That should take care of it.
In all honesty though, an OC that has had success against Clemson (Canada), or Bentley, if he is given room to install an innovative offense, would be pretty good.

The Scott family has done more damage to this football program than anyone could imagine. It is well known that, after being fired by USC for being one of the worst coaches in SEC history, Brad Scott would try and convince black kids not to come to Carolina because the Confederate Flag was flying a couple blocks from campus. Nevermind that Clemson's fan base is the epitome of rebel flag fliers.

I've already suggested Dan Enos, who won't have Bielema hovering over his shoulder and screwing things up, for USC.
Also... its good to see you back. Football season sucked without you around.
