KJ Jefferson and a moment of appreciation for briles and Pittman.

KJ has developed so fast in so in a few games. And I attribute this all to that decision to not roll out Hornsby until we were looking good. Briles play calling definitely was frustrating at times yesterday but the player development is off the freaking charts.
Rice: we looked like we couldn't throw the ball and we're gonna struggle against trip competition even though we came back. Grumblings for Hornsby abound.
Texas: we straight wrecked them with KJ at the helm. He did seem to struggle with hitting the deep balls in stride or with consistency.
Georgia southern: KJ looked so good here we even felt that Hornsby could come in for a bit.
Texas am: KJ is playing lights out hitting deeps balls in stride. Gets a cheap shot push and knee bruise. Hornsby has to come in and apparently is only prepped to run triple option. KJ comes back after his knee is numb and puts the screws to them to finish the game.
This kind of development couldn't ever happen under Chad and craddocks system of pull em at first sign of trouble and make no decisions. We showed faith in KJ and the reps he got allowed him to get here. And boy did he repay that faith in his abilities to end that game....
Tldr: it's so good to have someone competent running the program.

Briles needs to burn his 4th down play call sheet and start from scratch. I'm happy with him if he does that.

With each passing game, KJ's has looked more comfortable throwing the ball, especially from the pocket, and more accurate. Same as Cam did their NC year. Watched their first two games and thought he'd get his arse handed to him in the SEC. Perfect ball to Burks for early TD.
Not since Petrino have I seen a QB improve while at Arkansas.
ETA-Don't want to jinx him with the Cam Newton comparisons, but he's big, tough, can run and passing has improved noticeably with each game.

Brandon Allen definitely improved.

I won’t lie, I was worried when KJ went out.
Once KJ came back in and I saw him push the pile, I knew we had a good un.

I think we all were. I saw a season go down like the Hindenburg in my mind.

That was the stuff champions are made of. After that i really don't see anyone we aren't gonna show up and give hell.

Same, and I thought for sure the refs would screw us out of the interception.

The play wasn't the problem, it was using little Trelon Smith instead of letting Jefferson or Johnson getting that extra yard. Smith is too small for short yard situations.

I appreciate Sam having confidence in his team, but I felt he should have taken the 3 points. It almost came back to haunt us.

nah, 4th and 1 you should pretty much always go for it unless the 3 points ties the game or gives you the lead

That's a tough one. I always take the points i can get. Especially with how our RedZone game i would take em. I do like that Sam would go for more. That is the best option statistically. Especially if you can give a kill shite before half time. His logics not wrong , he's just got bigger balls than me to pull the trigger

I disagree, completely turned the momentum of the game. I think you take the three personally, as was said almost came back to haunt us

From a points perspective that makes 100% sense but from a momentum perspective it turned the entire feel of the game. Their players were flying sky high after that play.
Personally though I don't have a problem with either decision. FG is low risk, low reward. Going for it is high risk high reward. If we picked up that 1st down and scored a td it probably ends the game on the spot.
