He’s transferring to A&M.
Will he see PT?
What’s his story?

He was one I was hoping would come back. Very solid OT 6’5 300ish solid athletic role player. He was a guy that was a JUCO so he’s older 23/24.

Athletic and aggressive. Way more than his share of stupid penalties. Still wanted him back though.

He’s 280lbs at best. He’s the guy that would go in when Wayna Morris would shite his pants and play like a middle schooler. He’s aggressive just limited by physical talent.

He was an average olineman on a below average oline. He will be a solid backup but if you are relying on him to be a full time starter then that doesn’t bode well for your oline

Good aggressive player but on the small side. He really needed some more weight and will prob. get it. Hate that he's out.

Question....and any of the Vol fans can answer....why do you think your OLine struggled so much? My opinion is it was tied to Friend not doing a great job of coaching, but I am curious if y'all would agree or maybe something else was at play?

Probably a combination of Friend and CJP’s obsession with being a power running team. Their run blocking was decent but their pass blocking was horrendous.

There are way to many below average offensive line coaches that have high level jobs, its ridiculous the talent fiend had and couldn't produce anything better than what he did.

He will be measurably stronger by fall camp our S&C Coach is a maniac.

I give him a lot of credit for our better play. He keeps puke buckets scattered all around the gym.

I think he was plenty strong. He’s just skinny as hell. Dude came in rocking a 6 pack.

He was a good player for us, but I'm shocked he landed at A&M. I don't know what y'alls OT situation is, but just on the face of things I wouldn't have expected him to be a starter at a program like A&M.

As far as what the issue was with our OL, part of it was that Friend isn't a very good coach, but the overwhelming majority of the issue is that the way Jarrett Guarantano was playing last year made everybody on that offense worse. He's not accurate on short or middle routes, and he can't process the field, and he throws late unless its a deep ball. He was never worth the 4 stars he got out of HS, where he played shite in a shite league. So naturally once teams realized that, Tennessee became a really easy team to defend over a full game. Harrison Bailey wasn't even properly ready and when he came in, our offense was instantly better.

Locker room issues played a role and losing makes everything worse. A couple guys read their clippings and believed them. Friend is an easy scapegoat and his inability to manage the talent played a role but it wasn’t just him.

We are replacing 4 multi-year starters on the OL so we are in for a total reset. We have a ton of good young guards and centers with lots of talent.

We have no experience at tackle returning and very little in the way of quality depth. I expect Johnson to be a day 1 starter at tackle. He may get passed up later in the year by a younger, more talented player but I think his experience will win out early.
