Can someone explain why KenPom has Kentucky ranked so highly?

I was told they were gonna drop big time once conference play started because KenPom abandons preseason stats, but they’ve moved down 3 spots.

They are 4-9 and are ranked #59

Kentucky
Wins: #25, #79, #137, #204
Losses: #11, #14, #37, #38, #51, #60, #67, #85, #90

It honestly makes no sense to me. Kentucky is ranked 2 spots ahead of Pittsburgh (8-2), who has an undeniably better resume.

Pittsburgh
Wins- #29, #42, #42, #72, #89, #163, #183, #319
Losses- #38, #266

Yeah. They play some good teams. And some bad ones. They lose regardless.

They have one quality win, 4 losses to bad teams, and 5 losses to good teams.

You can say they played a tough schedule, but at some point you have to win games.

One Q4 loss is more difficult to overcome than four Q1 losses.

Ken pom starts out 100% weighted from last year, that's the answer to almost any question.

That 266 loss for Pitt.

Kentucky also gets some benefit because of who they traditionally are.

Be grateful you have a win over a quality Kenpom opponent then.

All of UKs losses are top 100 according to that. KenPom is weird till the end of the year to me though. Especially with an off year. Still, UK is an anamoly in the rankings this year most likely and it will resolve itself in time.

Pitt has played 4 teams ranked below 150; Kentucky just one.

Kentucky has no losses to a team above 100; Pitt lost to #266.

Technically, Kentucky also has the best win vs #25
