Posted this on the SEC Rant and wanted some more detailed thoughts.
Haven’t heard his name mentioned for the Bama OC job. Though he did a good job back in the day. Has Bama moved on in terms of style? Seems like McElwain ran more pro. Someone on the rant pointed out that was due to Saban. If so, could McElwain adjust to the current talent and style as CNS has evolved?
Herman, Freeze, etc would be great but another sell sword with a foot out the door.

Haven't kept up with Mac's offensive updates the last few years, so I'm not sure what his scheme looked like at CMU

Saban isn't reverting back to the old outdated offense.
If it isn't a power spread high flying OC with QB coaching, I don't see Saban hiring him.

Imo I think lots of people are stuck on spread offense guys. When reality we have evolved to what I consider more of the modern nfl west coast style.
McElwain may be a fit, but I bet Saban reaches to the NFL again

Will be interesting. He’s mentioned several times how the rules in college allow for different play calling.
Just a point. Certainly good offense minds would easily adjust to the rules.

McElwain could probably work some slants and posts into his gameplan and would be fine.

Most good NFL offensive minds see the difference in the college rules as an advantage and make full use of them.

If we get an OC that’s any good, he’ll be gone in 1-2 years.

We certainly don’t need 2 of them.

Checking cfbstats it seems McElwain's teams still struggle at scoring in the redzone. Pass.

I think the game has surpassed what McElwain can offer, but he wouldn’t be the worst pick.

Don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t pick him.
