I've asked this question once, and I'll ask it again... why do the UKs, Vandys, USCs...

...feel like they need a good coach to compete against the likes of Bama, LSU, UGA, FLA, etc.? these teams are traditionally lower tiered when it comes to football, yet, they feel the need they need to go out and get the next Saban or Mullen.

Vandy fires Mason.
USC fires Muschamp.

Don't these schools realize that they're not gonna do much better than these guys? why don't they just leave it to the big 6 to represent the conference in football while we let them have their time in the sun with the other sports?

USC is more of a baseball school anyway right? along with vandy?

we don't cry when UK is an automatic for the final 4 in basketball so why should football be any different?

A school should never stop trying to get better.

And Stoops is about to start his 8th year here. We’re happy for the most part with the job he’s done.

USC dominated the East under Spurrier so why would they accept mediocrity under Muschamp?

Well Mississippi State had a Mullen for almost a decade, so, seems like a legitimate thing to try and do.

Vanderbilt had James Franklin

South Carolina had Steve Spurrier

1 trip to Atlanta is domination at USC

Not to mention Cam covering them in his Cammy Cam juice whilst on that one trip to Atlanta

I'm pretty sure that Vandy can and has done better than Mason. We'll see if Lea can do it though. USCe can also do better as we've seen SOS be in the top ten but I think that was their pinnacle and they should focus on top 25.

Vandy hired Franklin, USCe hired Spurrier, and both were hugely better than Zook, McElwain or Florida Muschamp.

And lest you forget...prior to 1989, who was the only SEC school to have never won either an SEC football or basketball championship?

Hint: it wasn't Vandy.

Still, don't pretend that you would take Zook, Boom, or McElwain over James Franklin.

Because it is hard to compete against those teams with bad coaches.

But plenty of basketball programs without UK's pedigree, especially in the last 5-6 years, have brought in better quality coaches to compete. Pearl, Barnes, Buzz, etc.

And I find this ironic coming from a Florida fan who hired Billy Donovan to improve their basketball program and won some NCs are a result. Shouldn't you have just quietly taken your Ls in basketball with your logic?

do any of the simulations of the little video football games you live stream on youtube ever include players who throw cleats?

Why does Florida try to hire better coaches? They should have accepted their program’s results prior to the 90s

$$, Revenue. Football by far generates the most revenue and the better the program the greater the income. Vandy certainly won't compete for Atlanta every year but proved they can be competitive with Franklin.

That was a fluke and you know it’ll never happen again.

Back in the day you could have put Florida, FSU and Miami on that list. I bet they said that about Virginia Tech before Frank Beamer too, and Colorado before McCartney.

And Indiana and Iowa State will never be competitive either.

-Saban or Mullen-...'really?

OP is searching for validation for his coach.

-LSU Georgia or Florida-

OP is searching for validation for his team. This isn't about UK Vandy or USC. If you're questioning your place on your list, just count how many times your team played for a natl Championship this century.

Someone doesn’t know much about the history of Florida football.
