I know that we do not have a “generational talent” like Cam, but it seems when Gus was just zeroed in on O we ran/passed like a Rolex. Nix is mobile, why can’t we at least run some of these traps or pass concepts?
AGAIN BEFORE THE TITTY BABYS KICK IN: I know we don’t have Cam but we have gone vanilla.

IMO Gus was hurt more than anyone when the substitution rule went into effect. He was really good at setting up a big play after a few first downs based on D personnel that he knew couldn't get off the field.
Even when his O worked better than it does now if he didn't get a few first downs it was common to think "what the f---!" with his play calling. The substitution rule allows DC's to take that personnel scheme advantage away from him on good drives.

Yep. Gus has never recovered from Saban getting his buddy at the NCAA changing the substitution rule.

Gus is an offensive genius when he has a mobile quarterback and he allows the QB to run the ball.
Gus is a below average offensive coach when the QB does not have several runs from scrimmage.
Auburn would be in the fight every year if we only recruited running QBs and let them run.

Correct. Auburn needs runners that CAN pass. Auburn doesn’t need passers that CAN run. It’s no surprise players like Cam Newton and Nick Marshall found more success than guys like Jarrett Stidham, Sean White, Jeremy Johnson, Clint Moseley, etc. I don’t include Kiehl Frazier because he could do neither.

Kiehl Frazier
He was handpicked by Gus.
I was shocked the kid could not be productive at all.
Jeremy Johnson could play enough, but something went awry. Lost confidence. Seemed ok when he was the backup, but the bright lights got him.
Both seemed like good teammates and nice young men.

More fun to watch: Nick or Cam?
I think Cam was more athletic talent...he could almost have told the defense what he was going to do and still make them look silly.
Always thought of Nick as more of a magician, and if he got half a step on a defender, he was gone.

Nick was “take a second step and I’m gone.” He was quicker than a 69 camero. Cam was “I need two yards and I am running over you”.

FIFY
I have no idea why our fanbase gives zero shits that UGA has taken 12 of the last 15 and taken the overall series lead.
Only thing I can think of is the fanbase became obsessed with beating Bama and Saban.
