Holy shite seriously? That’s some bad roster management. They were one of about 4 sec teams who would’ve beat Notre dame that year. And as close as that game was it’s not inconceivable to think UGA could’ve won with more depth.

One of 3 backs I've seen completely take over a game against us during the Saban era: McFadden 2007, Gurley 2012, Elliot 2014.

The 2012 SEC Championship Game essentially became a running back duel between Todd Gurley and Eddie Lacy. I feel like that game was the end of an era for SEC football. It was one of the last of its kind in the SEC.

And it was TJ Yeldon that gutted out a huge 1st down run to set up the game winning TD. He should have been stopped behind the LOS, but just wanted it more.

That remains one of the best SEC games I've ever watched.

Because friggin Garner refused to sub much if at all on the DL. You can watch our DL barely put their hands down starting in the middle of the 3rd.

We didnt have scholarship players to rotate.

Derek Lott transferred out in the prior summer because he was 2nd string.

Abry Jones had a season ending leg injury.

John Jenkins went from starting NT to starting DE at 358 pounds.

Kwame Geathers went from backup NT to starting NT.

Mike Thornton (naturally a NT) went to the other DT spot.

Ray Drew was an OLB the year before and basically only a hybrid player in 2012 for being a tweener (275 pounds) in a 3-4 scheme.

Sterling Bailey was a freshman but was still beefing up like Drew. He was a more traditional 4-3 DE (bigger than Drew, but still learning the role with the dawgs)

We basically had 1st through 3rd string nose tackles play out our base defense with converted 4-3 DEs/OLBs behind them (5 players total on scholarship who weren't injured). Johnathan Taylor (another NT) took a redshirt as a true freshman. I dont know if he was injured or they didnt want to burn the redshirt after Abry Jones' injury.

For 2020, we have 14 players on scholarship for those 3 positions.

Yep and during the game, Gary Danielson said "I think you have to run this kind of offense if you're a big-time program." Or something to that effect

"Both teams have figured out that whoever can run the ball will win this game."

That still rings true, it's just a matter of how teams go about running the ball now.

Ogletree's hit on Eddie Lacy at the goal line in the second quarter is the loudest hit I've ever heard. It sounded like a rifle blast through the TV.

He had great success

Against who? Auburn and Florida? They had horrible offenses.

Did you see how many rushing yards we gave up vs Buffalo,Kentucky, SC,GT and GSU ?

Our biggest success vs a viable offense was against Vanderbilt.

Yeah I re-watched a few weeks ago and chuckled when I heard that. I guess he was right at the time. Pretty amazing how quickly that changed.
