That’s why Saban got up in his face Saturday. He’s been kicking short, then he gets a chance to kick where his regular punts would be the perfect distance, and what does he do? Try to hit a corner kick and shanks it.
I guarantee you they are telling him just catch it and kick it, but his mental block or stubbornness (no idea which, maybe both) won’t let him do it.

The more frustrating thing than watching DeLong punt is watching Saban continue to trot his arse out there. Seriously? The guy hasn’t had a good punt in two years, Nick. Move on. At least with Mike Bernier we got 40 yard kicks with good hang times and he’s sitting on the bench, why??? I almost wish DeLong would pull a groin or something so Nick wouldn’t even have the option of using him. Saban is the GOAT but his loyalty to certain players can be baffling at times.

Bernier is definitely better than DeLong (at least he doesn't shank half of them) but he can't get it past 40 yards either.

I’m not past trying that out. I should have done it when I was in the locker room against ole miss. Delong just sits there kind of staring at the ground, something is up with this kid.

I really do feel bad for the kid. The stress and nervousness that must build after every bad punt has to be agonizing. And, he only gets 1-2 shots a game, so it's even worse.

Didn't we have a kicker a while back that had to smoke before kicking? every time it looked a kick would be coming up he would smoke.
