There is not a circumstance in which I would pull for Auburn. Will I admit that they are a great team? Yes, but I will never pull for them.

I don’t remember a time when I pulled for allbarn either. But Pearl is the kind of coach Bama needs relevant to his energy, passion, intensity, aggressive defensive style, recruiting and uptempo offense.

Damn what a great coach! Like him or not, he is a winner, his teams play aggressive and he is a man’s man which is sorely lacking in our western societies.

Bruce Pearl is a bastard. He's the embodiment of the vile nature of corrupt college basketball and has zero honor whatsoever. He lets his underlings take his falls and brings along the NCAA and now FBI scrutiny. His place is alongside Rick Pitino, Bobby Petrino and others.

Absolutely disgusting and wretched human beings who are put up with in civilized society because they win sports games, which is more an indictment of the current culture than anything else.

Bruce Pearl is a BAD PERSON who happens gets balls through hoops and I wouldn't allow him near my child or my program.

Someone needs to fill me in on why Bruce is this slimy cheating arse coach. Not saying he deserves to be omitted from criticism about lying about a BBQ, but damn guys, all he did was tell some recruits to lie at a BBQ .

Again, not saying what he did at UT was okay, but there has been shadier shite going down in CBB just in the last few years.

The ncaa system has enabled corruption and Pearl has not been the factor of bringing ncaa scrutiny or the FBI's...the entire system is corrupt. You don't know Bruce on a personal level. I lived in Knoxville during his time in Tennessee and he cares about his players. He is a good father and loves his son greatly. He has honor! He gives back to others and the communities.

Bruce doesn't "happen" to get balls through hoops. He reached 300 wins faster than any coach in history except Roy Williams by only 12 games. And he started off as a team manager at Boston College, where he graduated.

Yes, he has gotten dirty relevant to recruiting. I definitely didn't like how he handled himself in the Illinois recruiting issue with Thomas and the secret recording etc etc and he flat out lied about Aaron Craft not being at the cookout etc etc. He is far from perfect but he's no less than you or me...flawed and in need of redemption.

So Pearl lost a bidding war with another school and then turned the other guy in to the ncaa.

Then later, at another school he requests a player and that players family to lie to the administrators and the ncaa, for which he was given a show cause.

Yeah. He sure has honor!

What kind of honor is this? Just exactly how has he shown this honor?

Go Red Raiders! I have no faith in UVA to stop the Auburn run. Any team that can shite the bed versus UMBC and lose the first ever 1 vs 16 game can certainly choke against the War Buzzards. So I choose to place my hope in Chris Beard and the Tech machine that is the hottest team nobody is talking about.

Can I ask why we have so many “other school” threads and posters lately in what is supposed to be a Bama board - to talk Bama athletics with other Bama fans?

I didn't say that was honorable! In fact, I clearly pointed that out as wrong. AND I CLEARLY POINTED OUT HE HAS BEEN WRONG IN OTHER RECRUITING SCENARIOS BUT THERE IS MORE TO BEING HONORABLE THAN JUST ONE ASPECT OF A PERSON'S LIFE.

Look I the mirror bubba and I'm sure you will be my point...we all have our flaws.

I simply asked how he has shown this honor you spoke of (with exclamation point even).

To me, honor is exemplified by those serving this country meritoriously; or being respectful of one's parents and trying to live up to their expectations, even when they don't know it; or standing up for what's right in the face of all adversity and popular opinion.

Honor isn't turning in your adversary when they outbid you, or telling others to lie to keep you out of trouble.

You say we all have our flaws, and it is true, but the kind of honor Pearl evidently has, we all have that too, so he isn't as special as you described him, in my opinion.

He’s been a good father and his children love him. He has brought his sons into the coaching business and helped them become good men. He is very involved in helping the communities when he’s coached. He’s been involved in helping Jewish people in a few different ways...yes, I know he’s of Jewish decent. Those are all honorable things.

There’s a reason the fans of every school he’s ever coached still like him and it is only about the W’s.

Again though, he has not been honorable in everything and he has got his flaws. Auburn fans are mostly from the state of Alabama the same as University of Alabama fans...we are not that different in our beliefs and character.

Do you really think Auburn people or Alabama people would support someone so immoral just as long as he wins? I don’t, at least not most of us on either side.

Would Auburn fans support questionable characters just because they win? Come on man.

Actually, I never called him "so immoral". I just don't think he's so honorable and special as you seem to. Besides the other ncaa problems I think there was also some points shaving incident at another school.

But whatever. You like the guy and think he's a swell fellow, and considering his past, I just don't agree. It's no huge deal imo. I wouldn't have responded again except you asked me about the Auburn fans. They not only supported a guy that was kicked off another team for theft (I think from a team mate but not sure about that) but looked the other way when his "pastor" Dad got paid for his son to play.

You do understand Bama has paid for its share of players and we all don’t care either. It’s the nature of the beast. It’s the system that has been created and it’s not going to change imo.
