I'm long since out of free WAPO articles for the month. Care to summarize?

Great story. I feel bad for the kids in that situation, but I am glad that they are getting a better chance in life. Also, Chris Braswell is a freaking beast. Apparently, he separated his shoulder 3x in one game which means that it was popped back into place twice and he continued to play.

That's an awesome story! Inspiring. If youve been to Baltimore or even seen The Wire on HBO you have an idea of the adversity those kids overcame.

I hope they get a real schedule next year

Surprised by the responses here. Most teams get upset about a single transfer/recruited player. The article states they have SIXTY RECRUITED PLAYERS. Yeah, I understand why their league won’t play them anymore. They should schedule Dematha, IMG, Bishop Gorman, and other schools that just flat out recruit.

No telling what a budget would like to pull that off. Would make sense that instead of actual w/ls, they could at least play "friendlies" against local teams for some games.

That would be commensurate with the program they've built, but it's being funded by one guy. He's paying 100k for housing those kids. No telling how much to recruit them and pay their tuition. He might not have the money to fly them all over the country as well.

Zero incentive for local teams to play them just so they can steal their players.

I think the issue is the decided bot to play them so late in the year that St Francis couldn't put together a good national schedule

No. They can't. The other schools don't have an angel donor willing to shell out millions of his own money just to bring those players in.

it said, when poggi was at that other school, he wanted to do this for them. they said no. so its not st frances's fault that the other schools want to be left behind. but it still is 100% hypocritical to be all in when you are beating up on st frances. but turning tail and running to hide when you no longer can. refusing to even play the games.
