This is just another example of the Baptist holier than thou religion. Baptists aren't supposed to drink and engage in premarital sex. Yet the Baptist religion will turn a blind eye away from a sex offender. Bring up SMU and Notre Dame sports and that board goes crazy about how those schools, and others, are sinful

Let's look beyond the football aspect here for a second because it doesn't seem like Baylor was able to- if Briles knew about the allegations he should never have accepted the transfer in the first place - this wasn't a stolen laptop this was domestic abuse allegations- it was crap that Mett was able to gain admission at LSU it's crap that Mixon is still at OU (and that they took the Mizzou WR).
To compound the earlier mistake by acting like they did once a the guy was indicted is nuts. For all the crap we rightly give FSU even Jumbo would have kicked the guy if the initial police coverup failed and enough evidence was left lying around to make a case.
all of this. As Bielema says "you recruit your problems" as tBeacon of college sports we've passed on higher ranked athletic freaks because of behavior issues. Character is the number one thing our staff looks at in recruiting beyond the obvious 'if they can play at SEC level'. Our attrition has become minimal. Only 1 arrest in over 2 years. (which I called a week prior b/c I saw that player at a gas station acting like an idiot)
We've got to start holding coaches accountable for the programs they run. They get paid ridiculous amounts and they can seem to always find a job and land on their feet and just get right back to business as usual while fans, alumni, students, and admin are left to clean up their messes or endure the criminal activity those coaches brought into their cities and universities.
Athletes are often a conduit to drugs and other criminals because they don't leave their homies behind in the ghetto they come from, they bring em on campus where the athlete's fame lets them run wild and get hook ups all over the place.

He never practiced or worked out with the team as far as I know. He literally wasn't on the team except in name.
He worked out with the team all the time and they fully expected him to suit up this fall.
The guy was accused and then charged with sexual assault yet remained in school while Baylor did everything in its power to protect his "rights" and chase off the victim so this wouldn't get publicity...which they did successfully.

A&M fans should hope Coach Briles gets fired from Baylor over this!
with ken starr at the helm Briles is safe. his investigative prowess, or lack thereof, has been proved.
also, they have to pay for that damn stadium man. a rapist or two isn't gonna change a thing.

Unfortunately I agree with all of this.

That's what they said at a press conference in June. They were looking forward to seeing him in the lineup.
The problem Baylor really has right now is they tried to keep this quiet. Probably been dozens of sports reporters doing stories on Baylor, their improved defense, the transfers in, returning starters, etc... and no one ever mentioned anything about the rape charges or the possibility that this guy might not be able to play.
Sportswriters took this stuff personally and for good reason. Story caught all of them off guard and they have been doing a lot of Baylor stories for months now. They mad.
Baylor hasn't seen any real heat yet. This will start on Monday when journalist start trying to figure out who at the University knew what, what happened to victim when she reported it, etc... etc.. A blinding spotlight about to shined on Baylor. Someone is going to lose a job. May not be Briles but someone at that University is gone. They better pray to god almighty that the victim wasn't pressured by the University not to file charges. Kaboom if that happened.
