This is quite the look into how deeply involved Phil Knight is with the university of Oregon.

Obviously and that’s the purpose of the forum. I’m the one that mentioned Oregon elsewhere. The article is incredibly informative and well worth the time if one cares to be informed instead of simply opinionated. Hang in there.

knight - oregon, t boone pickens - ok st, bryant jr - bama, it would proly take way less time naming a top 25 team that doesnt have at least one wealthy major donor on the hook. and yes i know t boone pickens is no longer with us. but i'd just about guarantee his family is carrying on his legacy. these wealthy businessmen are footing a lot of the bills, so more power to them. right up until they start interfering with coaches decisions.

You're right, plenty of mega donors out there.

So Phil Knight withholding his annual contribution to the medical research charity over being called out for his sweatshops says a lot about the guy. Taking away donations to the university...fine...but the charity thing was pretty cold hearted. The Oregon president's family has gone through some terrible personal tragedies.

Absolutely spot on Chad...it gets worse than that with PKnight. He's a sweatshop billionaire beast

It's amusing that you think Bryant's wealth compares to those two.

I didn't see his response as saying Bryant had the same wealth but was similarly a mega donor and influence.

kind of like comparing Golden Flake to Nike.

Just think if the Wall Mart clan decided they wanted a number 1 football team. They could put TAMU out of business in a hurry. And there is a boat load of money out there in California if a couple of them were to decide they like college football enough to go buy team.

The only question is whether this money going to players will cause locker room problems. Greed and money.

Good points but I believe there are and will be more problems than greed and locker room issues. I'd be surprised if NILs don't get lots more litigation from numerous aspects.
