By his 3rd year, I'd like to be in the hunt...We're not THAT far off, but he's got a little work to do to reset the foundation, install his culture, and most importantly RECRUIT his tail off...So unless he has a disastrous start, and I'm talking no bowl or like 3-4 wins, I'm gonna be patient while he gets this thing done...I'm very confident that he will.

3-4 years. Just want to see an upward trend and good recruiting. Would love to see a consistent, disciplined, well coached team which would be the complete opposite of Mullen. Excited to have a relatable coach and not some quirk like Mcelwain or Mullen.

5-6 years Would like it to be sooner and if he gets a SEC title in under 4, will likely be in the CFP,

5-6 yearsPlenty of time to have all his guys in place and mold the program to his liking.

Honestly, I'd be happy seeing improvement year after year if it looks like he's going to eventually get there. Mullen never gave me any confidence that he'd ever put it all together enough to win a title.

Napier is the first coach since Meyer that has come in with the amount of immediate fan buy in that's been seen. That in and of itself will help, and if he can show turn around in recruiting he is going to buy himself time to get this going in the right direction.

Depends how things go. I would have said no way Mullen isnt here in 2022 after 2020 but with our collapse and it being with his recruited players being the starters finally and the recruiting dropping off it was time to part ways.

I do think we are in a position like when Mac left and could go 9-3 next year however.

Difference is, if Nape wins 9 or 10 next year it's probably over for a lot of programs in the SEC not named Alabama, Georgia, and maybe LSU in terms of even staying close with the Gators for the next decade plus.

Hopefully. I just hope we can get that opening win over Utah who will be a tough team with the style they play. We will know right off the bat if the defense has toughened up or not. Really glad this coming year is the home game with Utah.

As Josh Pate stated,

You cant give an accurate impression on the guy until you see the supporting staff around him

Until then its a big "?"

If he actually turns the program into a machine like Bama and UGA, at least four years, though if he really does that, he should be giving UGA problems by his second year. Someone I was reading the other day pointed out that winning coaches rarely take long to start doing it.

I didn't want Dan gone over the collapses this year and last. I wanted him gone because the program was a wreck and was only going to get worse. I still can't believe that guy let Todd Grantham cost him his job.

Once it became obvious that the program was completely disorganized and recruiting was in the toilet specifically due to his philosophy on recruiting, he had to go. If he'd been bringing in a top five class with organization running like a well-oiled machine, I wouldn't have wanted him fired over one bad year, but it was clear that things were going downhill fast and probably staying there for God knows how long.

Thing is, it's hard to see a scenario where the org and recruiting gets righted and starts running like a program has to today to compete and us not immediately turn around. I'm not saying we're in Atlanta in 22 or 23, but we'd almost assuredly be making whoever is having had to sweat to get there at least by 23.

I think the early signing period will be an early indicator and whether he can save it.

4-5 years assuming we trend upward. That means not being a sarcastic jackass in interviews, the ability to check his ego, disciplined play/players, better recruiting, and winning games we should win.

After that, I’d say anything less than 10 wins gets the seat warm. I’d like to see us win the East and the SECCG by year 5.

I’m willing to give him as long as he needs to win a NC (given that’s a pretty difficult task unless your last name is Saban). I’d like to see us consistently in the hunt to make the CFP.

I do like the “scared money don’t make money” slogan. But I’m more of a “don’t talk about it, be about it” kind of guy.

I do believe that quote was directed at the administration.

I’m worn out on this stuff, so I’m willing to give Napier all the time he needs and if need be I’ll go down with the ship.

Set bullet point expectations isn't what's needed. As a few others have said it just needs to be the overall flow of the program.

Having OM as my other team has taught me this. Best comparison is the Hugh Freeze era.

2011 we were 2-10 Nutt got fired.
In 2012 nothing was expected of OM but we went 6-6 then won the bowl game to finish 7-6.
2013 followed it up with a 8-5 season. (Still trending up)
2014 9-4. Peach bowl
2015 10-3 Sugar Bowl.
2016 5-7 all went to shite.

But the key from 2011 to 2015 was the yearly improvement. Not just in the Win/Loss column but in the overall feel of the team and everything.

Dont get me wrong we had all kinds of crazy shite happen and went down with that team. But that ride from 2012 till 2015 was amazing and it was because the team kept slowly growing and was trending upwards.

UF seems to be a major mess right now. Obviously not 2-10 OM bad but essentially the programs equivalent. UF has higher expectations and a higher ceiling than OM overall. But CBN needs to be judged over how the program is built from this moment on. Not on "ok its year XXX i expected XXX"

At least thats my outlook on it.
