Go back to two teams or expand to 8.

Bama and Michigan clearly the best two right now. We might beat Michigan if we play them, but it doesn’t mean we “deserve” the chance.

I also don’t believe there are 8 teams that are capable of winning, but do believe UGA/ND/Baylor/OSU and the other OSU are all pretty similar

You have to expand the field. Today we’re all victims of recency bias, which has plagued CFB for a long long time. Bama is probably the best team, but how many times did they almost blow it during the season? They milked it to a big game and then showed out. Does that absolve them of all their lackluster play? It certainly does in our minds, but a true tournament bracket shouldn’t think that way. Who is the best team this year is a genuine question that should be answered on the field, not by pollsters.

Lackluster play? Winning is winning. If Miss St. was 13-0 right after winning every game by 1 point, MSU fans would be wearing cowbells around their necks 24/7. Style points and blowouts don’t matter when you’re playing in the best conference. Expanding the playoffs is stupid. What should be done is forcing every team to play at least 2-3 non-conference power 5 teams so there are some ways to relate the conference strengths.

I never wanted to expand in the first place.

Go to 12. I want in every year. Seven years out of eight doesn't cut it.

I read your title. That's all I need to know your intent.

My intent was that only two teams have earned a shot this year: Bama and Michigan

After that there are a bunch of teams who could win a game or even two with some luck/injuries/etc.

4 makes no sense. Even though we are likely in.

I hate the 12 team playoff idea and giving teams a bye week. Either do 8 or 16 and make everyone play the same number of games to win it all.

I think I did as well. Actually prefer it before all this shite with 4-5 bowl games and the “Beauty pageant” voting system

4 is the absolute right number.
It works more years than it doesn't.
